Yes
I have 2 softboxes which measure 70cmx50cm with a connecting fitting which has a diameter of 12cms......is this a standard fitting which will fit say Lencarta flashes or would I need to buy all new if I considered upgrading my ProLine F-180 (I know they are pretty basic) and while I'm asking what systems models would you recommend please.......shoot mainly family and friends
Thanks
Dave

There are different fittings, lencarta use bowens S type fitting. its a circlular fitting with three little prongs that click into the fitting of the flash. The s type is pretty standard i think.

Thanks Cris for the info. The image has really helped as well....my fitting is not like that it has not got the 3 prongs, so looks as if I may to consider new boxes as well as a general upgrade.
Thanks again
Dave

Is it not possible to keep the soft box & just buy the correct 'speed ring' for your lights?
I guess this is a question for others rather than the OP.

No.

very often yes, I know a guy who moved from elinchrom fit to bowens fit replacing speedrings and then replacing the mods that needed it (flogging the old ones on ebay)

Still no.

If you speak to the guy you know who moved from elinchrom fit to bowens fit you'll find that he was using Chimera or similar softboxes, which are made to take a variety of different speedrings (as are the latest Lencarta softboxes).

But the OP is asking about ebay softboxes, fitted with 'universal' speedrings - a bit different.

Hi - my softboxes are proline are these the same as your reference to Ebay ones...also please what lencarta system would you recommend when mainly shooting family and friends and never to be a commercial venture
thanks

so... depends on the softbox as opposed to yes/no?

throw up a photo of the speedring

Hi Dave,

you should get a correct answer to your question from Garry Edwards if you PM him

Unfortunately the answer I've already given is correct. I've looked on their website to check, and although it's one of those pretty websites that doesn't actually say anything, it's clear that the OP has the generic flash heads (sold under a variety of different names) that doesn't have a removable reflector and so which can't be fitted with a softbox that has any kind of speedring. Therefore, this type of flash head can only be fitted with 'universal' fit softboxes and the softboxes supplied can only be fitted to small flash heads of this type.

Thanks for the clarification
Dave
