not sure if posting in right place but here goes
all the photos i have posted seem to get the same response
too soft, can someone explain this to me and if possible a way to cure it, i would like to be able to take really sharp photos, is it down to the quality of the camera the camera settings or post editing, hope someone can help me many thanks:thinking:

Hi m8, it's hard to see what the issue is without an example. The images in your gallery all show a degree of post processing.....Gausian blur?

You may be thinking of this post.

Its certainly not a camera issue. It may be that you haven't quite nailed the focus, or a bit of camera shake perhaps.

But once you resize your pics for the web, they will always lose some sharpness. Final thing to do after resize to 800px is to run them through a sharpening filter in whatever software you use. Try that and see how you get on.

Also, using photobucket as a host appears to lose some sharpness too (there's another post around here that did a comparison). Try using flickr, or the gallery space on here instead.

I could only see one image in your gallery, and there's not a lot wrong with that, seems sharp round the eyes which is what matters....

Are you shooting RAW? If you are, then the images will look soft, and do need post processing to get the best out of them - this is designed to retain the maximum amount of detail.

What lens(es) are you using? This will have some effect to, as many lenses have a 'sweet spot' where they are at their sharpest. Usually stopped down a couple of stops and if it's a zoom, never at its full extension.

Cheers,
James
