Anybody bought a new sofa and chair after sitting on it in the shop and thinking it was fine, getting it delivered 12 weeks later, sitting on it properly and finding out its as uncomfortable as hell?
Its not a manufacturing fault, just that I was wrong in my assessment of it being what I wanted.
So have I p*****d £1800 pounds up the wall or have I a chance of returning it? I realise I'll have to speak to the store to find out for sure but a little pre armed information would be handy.
Should add that Ive had the new suite for two weeks today exactly.
I bought from a local store, not online, and paid by credit card.
Its manufactured by G plan.

Thanks

If there is nothing wrong with the sofa other than you don't like it, it's pretty much up to the shops returns policy if they have one.:sorry:

Dunno, need to speak with the company and find out what options are, some place have a 30 days no qwibble type policy so don't waste time.

Goodwill is worth a lot, so they may take it back, but if it is a big store your options may be limited.
It is always worth sitting in it for at least 10 mins before purchase, longer if you can.
You are not the first to have done this.
Good luck.

Well, long story short, we bought a MultiYork sofa (2 identical ones actually at £2200 each), basically they delivered with the wrong filling in the cushions, so it was uncomfortable, they replaced them with a revised version of the ones we ordered as they "upgraded" the filling. It wasnt as comfortable as the one we "tested" in-store, after a 2 year battle we gave up trying to get them to replace said sofas, they have since gone belly up, so kiss goodbye to any guarantee we may have had in respect to the frame.
I wish you all the luck in the world but I fear you may be unlucky.

Go back to the shop and check the comfort of the one you saw there. If there is a marked difference I would certainly fight hard to get it changed.

We did, without success :-(

I'm more stunned that folk pay that kind of cash for a sofa and chair £1800

Of course there's always DFS, I think they have a sale on at the moment.

not sure on this ,first line of attack would be the shop ,but I would expect to lose a fair bit on it ,as the price will be for a brand new item plus delivery ,,they will if legitimate have to sell yours on at a reduced price as used .

Was it made to order or a regular stock line? You may have more luck returning it if it’s the latter.

I think this is what's likely tbh.
Good luck
And for those who hate DFS, my 13 year old suite is still in great nick and comfy as you like. :)

Our G-Plan sofa is somewhere around 40 years old and still comfortable. Webbing's gone so replaced with plywood but otherwise looks pretty good as well apart from where the cat's pulled herself along the lower front bit...
