So what's next on your equipment hit list?

I stuck between 3 directions; the cash is waiting to be spent as well.

I'm thinking the wide first...ideally a Nikkor AF-S 12-24 f4G.

Then also I want a Nikkor AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ... yummy.

And 1.4x & 2x Nikon TC's for the 200mm. ...not at all inexpensive. :cuckoo:

And I really want a 30mm prime or similar just for fun.

...Oh and a SB800 flash.

..And a D200

..And a

:D

Edit, Oh, and mines a pint of Swans Elwood ale please... pure nectar.

Cheers.

Did someone really have to start this thread like this lol :naughty:
Its an encouragement for me to buy new kit. ah well here goes........

I would really like to upgrade my body. ideally im looking for 2 identical bodies, probably 2x30d although im really wanting a 1d mk2n as i think they will come down in price a bit when the mk3 is out.
Also looking to get the the canon 100mm macro and either a 300mm 2.8 of 500 f4.

Apart from that i think i have everything i need so far. Now i just need to save some money to go buy it all.

The only thing I can seriously consider buying at the moment is some more FC cards.

Im considering still a Sigma 50-150 2.8 to fill the gap between my 18-70 and 120-300.

Long term Im after:

17-55 2.8
70-200 2.8 VR
200-400 f4 VR

Im also tempted to go for the 12-24 and 28-70 instead of the 17-55, but that will mean changing lenses more often.

Oh year, and another D200....

Prob for me a Tamron 17-50 f2.8, maybe a flash and then may look at a body upgrade next year when i actually have some money lol. I am dreaming of course

17-55 2.8
70-200 2.8 VR

There may be an 'announcement' very soon surrounding some new and updated lenses from Nikon.

Word is that the 400, 500 and 600mm will be updated to VR versions and will employ the new nano-crystal coatings that have been used on the most recent Nikkor lenses.

Speculation is that the revised primes might be as wide as f/1.2, thus keeping pace (and removing bragging rights) from Canon users.

Last rumour is that a new fast and wide DX optimised prime lens will be announced - probably in the 20mm range and almost certainly f/1.4 or f/1.2.

Uh oh! :D :D :D

:woot: I'm actually excited, lol. how long do we have to wait then...

Lee filters so i can have some sky in my pics ;)

.. or I suppose British Racing ....erm whats it called again....

Actually stopped doing BRG ... replaced with Emerald ... ... apparently ... :p

Dunno whether this is anything to do with their Racing plans ... :suspect:

:p

Carole, Have a good look at the EF-S 10-22. This is a cracking little lens which will give you the "real 16-35" equivalent on your 400d. The "real"16-35 will obviously be much longer due to FOV crop.

Thanks Anton, that's a good idea! Will have a look.

- Manfrotto 190PROXB (still deliberating on this one) and an undecided head.

Whats yours?
Errr, um ... pretty much the same!!! :embarrassed:

I still havent got around to deciding on this as different bits of equipment keep jumping the order of priority in my mind.... like the Canon 70-200 2.8IS.

I just feel incapable of deciding what I need the most! :shake:

I think probably a Sigma EM-140 ringflash at the end of the month.
Some sort of 'normal' hotshoe flash.
A 50mm 1.8 to glue to the end of my sigma 150mm.
18-70 to replace my kit lens.
Manfrotto 190XPROB.
D200!

Hmm :help:

Actually, anyone know if anyhting is likely to bring D200 prices down between now and September? I've decided that I can actually justify one to myself if I manage to the get on the masters I'm going to apply to as soon as I get a kick up the arse.

thinking two avenues at the mo...
a medium format camera (off ebay or somewhere) and having a play, and further on down the line a 1dsmk? (what ever it is when I decide to go for one. impressed by the 1dmkiii's image qualities so thinking the next rev 1ds will be amazing...! so, 1d or 1ds mkiii then I suppose :D
might grab a 30d/20d small body as a back up in the mean time - 1d bods aren't cheap!!!

I've been interested in the Nikon 70-300mm VR, as I think it would be a good upgrade for the Sigma 70-300mm I already have.

A friend has the Sigma 10-20mm, so I don't need to rush to get one of those. ;)

A Nikon SB800 flash is a must at some point, although again she has that flash as well.

A set of Lee filters would be nice, but I can't cross the mental barrier to pay that much for one piece of glass.

I'd also like a Fuji F31fd, just to keep in my pocket, rather than carrying all my stuff around, 'just in case'. That is the new purchase which is most in reach at the moment.

Obviously the list could get longer and more exotic as far as lenses are concerned, but the stuff I've mentioned is within reach, and at the level I'm at, at the moment. ;)

hmmmmm, macro lens at the end of the summer, probably the nikkor 105mm as well as an SB800.

Not in any rush to buy more stuff here, but if Nikon were to do a AFS VR N, version of their classic 85/1.4, which I've frequently heard it suggested that they might, then I'd be quite seriously tempted. Only worry would be that it'd be too enormous for comfort or too silly in price, in which case I might look for one of the current models going cheap. I've fancied one for ages but can't really justify it given that I've already got a 105 VR (and an ancient 135/2 DC)

Any rough idea when this announcment might be made? Are we talking days or weeks you think?

I want a lens to fit between my 17-40 and the 70-200 at some point, but it'll have to wait until i've managed to buy some talent.

The 24-70 f/2.8 would fit nicely with your new 5d .... You may want to get rid of the 17-40 though.

Well......

580 EX II
1D MKIII once i sell my MKII.......anyone interested?
Some type of image downloader

That should do me.............for now

Nah......I love the wide end of the 17mm on the 5

I'm surprised no one has come up with a 40-70 to fill the gap, looking at people's sigs there's alot of us with the 17-40 / 70-200 set up.

Nikon D2Xs body.

Soon!

Maybe even today :D

Ok, here goes.

sigma 50-500mm
sigma 150mm macro
nikon 50mm f1.4
manfrotto tripod
mb-d80 battery grip.

ive just bought some Cokin P series nd filters , 2,4 and 8 :) should be coming this week

im gunna get the 50-500 on the never never from jessops very soon ;)

I have a 400d with the 18-55 kit lens, a tamron 70-300 and a tamron 90mm macro. I love the macro lens and hate the other 2 :)
Its gonna be a while before i can afford to replace either of the two crap lenses, so i might buy some more general stuff like a BG E3 battery grip and extra battery, a set of extension tubes and a telecoverter.
At least with the ex tubes and TC i can use them on the lenses i have now plus any new ones i get in the future....

EF 24-105 Lf 2,8

:D

Do they make a 2.8 Version of that lens then Anton ? ;)

Not yet, but I mailed the good folks at Canon and they promised to get it out of testing soon!

:D :D :D

I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it !!!!!

*Happy Dance*

*Strokes D2Xs and mutters "My presciousssss..."
