So what was your first slr or dslr?

Canon a1 way back in the 80s. I still love this camera.

Zenit SLR back around 1970 IIRC. No meter, no instant return mirror, and no automatic stop down on the lens; so it was very entry level, but all I could afford at the time. Used it for a few years, followed by an Olympus 35RC, then bought a Nikon F2 when I worked in Hong Kong.

I still have the F2, and it's been my favourite camera for over 30 years. Its little brother (FM) is pretty good too!

Canon 350d in 2006 (I think).

My first film slr was an Olympus of some sort, possibly an om10 or the likes.
My first dslr was a Minolta dynax d5 which burnt its inboard flash out within two months so I had it swapped for a canon eos 350d.

First SLR back in the early '90s was a Canon EOS 600 - Canon's first Autofocus SLR I believe. I loved it then and still have it. I had a very brief foray into APS SLR with an IX7 I believe - what a horrible piece of kit that was and thankfully I kept hold oft beloved 600. I then bought an EOS5 before venturing to the digital world with my 350D which I later sold and put funds towards my 20D. I then bought a 5DmkII and then a 7D before selling (or practically giving away on this forum) my 20D. I'm happy with my 5DmkII and 7D combo and will likely stick to that for quite a while.

... a Canon EOS 600 - Canon's first Autofocus SLR I believe....

nah, the EOS 600 was preceded by the EOS 650 and 620. And Canon I'm sure had a sort of attempt before those based on a T50 body with a big lumpy 35-70 AF lens called the T80.

Pentacon FB, circa 1964.

My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic - a pretty basic camera but it took some really good shots, I still have them an unlike some taken on other cameras the quality hasn't deteriorated.
I had a Pentax ME super, but I was never very fast at focusing and printing films was expensive so when my daughter came along I bought a point and shoot Minolta, lovely camera until it got soaked when I was out in the hills one day :-(
I've now got a Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ5, which is great for carrying around and a year ago I bought a Nikon D3100, still a lot to learn on it, but I hope I'm getting there

Canon AE-1 Program with 50mm f1.8

Bought from Boots in Bridgwater, Somerset for £159.99 in 1983.

Soooooo wanted an A1 to give me aperture priority as well, but couldn't afford one.

Went straight to a D700 in Jan 2011. Before that it was phone or point and shoot.

First SLR was an Olympus OM2N earlier this year. Wouldn't be without it.

Started with an Olympus OM-10 (with the manual adapter) as a kid that my dad gave me. Unfortunately some scrote nicked it along with the Sigma 70-210 lens that i'd saved my pocket money for about a year for!

First digital was an Agfa ePhoto 1280. 4AA batteries that lasted for about 3 shots before they were drained!

Canon 350D with kit lens (18-55mm) around Christmas 2006 or 2007.
That long ago I can't remember.

Practika MTL3, which I had for maybe 18 months, until It fell a good 1000ft from a ledge near the top of the Aig. Vert over in the alps. Didn't miss it one bit, and bought a Canon AE-1 the first day back in Chamonix.

I had a Practika EE2 with 28mm, 50mm & 135mm Pentacon lens around 1986 my first slr and still got it.

Learnt on a Olympus OM-10 then my first DSLR was a Canon 450D

I started with a Canon 350D XT, loved it, moved on to a 30D, old but still superb, now in the processes of ordering a 1D IV....

A Zenit TTL for me, which was then followed by a Chinon CG5. I don't think I ever really produced much of note during this period, but the principles learned on manual SLRs all kicked into use with digital.

Mine was a Canon EOS-1D, graduation gift from my Dad!

Canon 400D December 2007.......

I'd been hankering an SLR after owning a Konica Minolta Dimage Z5 for a couple of years but my wife wouldn't let me buy one.

We split in October 2007....... the rest is history

Asahi Pentax Spotmatic

Bought new in Chiswick in 1973 to take on honeymoon, can't remember using it.
How I wish I still had it.

My first SLR was an Olympus OM20, with an OM10 as a backup and a Bronica ETRSi for portraits (all now retired).

The OM10/20 were replaced with a Nikon F100 and the ETRSi was replaced with a Fuji S2, Now the only camera I use regularly is my Fuji S5.

I also have a Yashica mat-124G, and an old Praktica MTL-3. . . I really should have a clearout :)

My next DSLR will probably be a Nikon D800. . . If I can find £2,500.00.

A TP 1/4 plate ruby reflex in 1952

Next a pentax S1a in 1962

First SLR was a Practika MTL 5, first DSLR was a Nikon D40x.

Still have the Practika but it's just an ornament these days.

First was a Practika LLC (electric contacts from lens to body, woohoo). Traded the kit in when the Olympus OM1 was released and kept faith with the brand 'till all my kit was pinched in a burglary. Changed to Canon (EOS 5). First DSLR was a 350D (toe in water), than 1DmkII, currently 1DmkIII.

I started with a Zenit EM, then a Cosina CSM with the auto exposure module.

Zenith in the 80's...I can't recall the model but it's still in the loft :)

My first SLR was a Fujica ST605 with the standard Fujinon 55mm f2.2 lens. I managed to fluke a few decent shots out of it back then, but I was largely clueless. These days I find it's a joy to use.

My first DSLR was a Nikon D80, which I went to after learning how to use a camera properly on a Fuji bridge camera.

Technically, my grandad gave me these about 2003:

But the first on I purchased was a D80 in 2007.
