So What Was Your Best Present?

My wife got this for me .I'm posting this, having worn it a few times , should anyone be needing a top that is really warm. Not only that but it can be turned inside out..or as she says, being Scottish..outside in..lol..if it rains as it's waterproof.

I guess my new Sony A6600 and lenses though I bought it before Xmas. My son gave me a whiskey tasting set of 3 whiskeys which we were able to try one immediately and the other two the next day via Zoom. The first was exceptional and distilled in London but my son tells me that it would cost £5,000 to buy a full bottle as there are only 1000 in total. He got these samples through trade contacts. We actually regularly do whiskey tastings and our favourites tend to be peaty Scottish whiskeys but I have also enjoyed some good Irish and Japanese Whiskeys.

New phone [the most unexpected gift], was almost buying myself one just before Christmas which had my partner in sweats :D but I changed my mind to doing so in the new year. She's got me a better one than I'd have bought [Xiaomi Redmi Note Pro 9]

Also got loads of clothes I will actually wear! wireless headphones, decent aftershave [D&G King]

I've never had a japanese Whiskey, but always been intrigued!

Never been a Whiskey drinker, my dad likes to think he's an expert but then he'd drink a bottle of Paddy without mixer no issue, and that stuff is like drain cleaner! One of his favorites though is Jameson 16yr old [or was it 18? it was very expensive I know that much!] , and I have tried it and found it pleasant enough. He also likes Black Bush from up Norf, also Bushmills 16yr old. I think he likes some Scotch too but cannot remember the names

Drain cleaner, wanna try some Bells. yuch.
Paddys is ok (ish) but Powers is a proper Irish whisky. But again, mmmm laphroaig 10 yo is the one I keep coming back to, and believe me I wish there was an Irish one that beat it, but if it exists, Ive not had it yet!

Ah Bells, I do remember seeing that about the house too - I tasted my first whiskey at the hardy buck age of 10, and it was Paddy ... thought my chest was going to combust :D my own fault, no adult influence, it was after one of my parent's old house gatherings in the late 80's, always drink leftovers everywhere as they were seeing off guests at the door. Powers was another of my Dad's favourites though, we used to get him a bottle for Christmas till me Ma told us not to lol, as he'd drink the bottle in one sitting and be looking for more. As we got older we'd get him Jameson 16, and convince me Ma that it was more refined, and he'd savour it more ... nope, gone in one night, looked for more :ROFLMAO: to be fair my Da was never a terrible drunk, he liked to sup, a LOT, but was more a silly drunk, as me mother would say, he'd just drink himself to sleep. He is today, at 71, off the [regular] drink a couple year now :) he will have the very odd one, like at Christmas he will have a whiskey or stout but not every other day like old times.
