So Tottenham burns!

They'd make ideal fodder for land mine clearance. First and last time they'll probably do something useful in their miserable existence.

Absolutely no irony in the law abiding 'football firms' out to stop people running through the streets causing criminal damage and beating people up...:gag:

I will half agree with you there, I don't think Charlton have ever been associated with that sort of thing.

However, there's reports going round facebook and twitter that there weren't just the Charlton, Millwall and Palace fans standing strong, in peace together.

Here's a serious question from me

This scum is endangering lives, frightening and terrorising decent people, burning their homes and businesses and costing this country a huge sum of money in policing and security!

Why is this behaviour not treat the same as terrorist activity? ...... Use shoot to kill and ask the questions later?

You may not like this but everyone eligible to vote over the last 50 years or so is to blame they are who have shaped the society we live in,
We voted for the governments that have produced a justice system that is not working.
We have one of the highest prison population compared to the population in the developed world, therefore prison is not working.
This country once hung murderers.
Now IMHO there is no proportionality
Robbing a train will get you more prison time than killing someone, message kill all the witnesses you have nothing to lose.
Not paying council tax you more prison time than mugging someone, message mug some to get the money to pay for council tax you have less to lose.
And so on

Yup! some truth in that

That wouldn't stop them anyway!

True, Charlton not Palace are that renowned for their loony elements.

I think the tiredness has got to me, confused by your post now

Scrap that, did you mean "nor"?

Firearm discharged at an officer in Aston, apparently... And things have apparently been kicking off in Liverpool too...

It doesn't take much for the scum to take to the streets thinking they can do what they feel like, perhaps this is the wake up call the government needs

I delivered some truck parts to a bodybuilder a couple of weeks ago, they have a contract to build 450 new prisoner transport vans, I bet somebody is ringing to see if they're ready

Round up as many of those thugs as possible, get the chain gangs out of the museum, get them to work (probably a first for most of them). They could start by cleaning and repairing the damage they have caused.

It really is a disgrace. It has been suggested paintball clubs mark all the chav looters so they are easier to identify! I think our government need to man up and stop with the airy fairy approach!

Is this true?

would it be acceptable if i defended my property with a chainsaw or baseball bat :bat: :nono:  :naughty:

all the reports i can find are newspaper reports with eye witnesses, cant find anywhere the police saying that he shot at them and they responded? the Metro article i linked too is the oldest one i can find

You didn't look very far then Matty, did you?

Post 8 on this very thread.........

"...This was unchecked thieving and violence, pure and simple - piggybacked onto a police firearms incident to provide some loose "justification". An incident in which a supposedly "innocent" (to use the words of his family) man has fired a loaded handgun at a police officer, who has been lucky to escape with his life...."

No wonder the Channel 4 reporter was rather angry at being lied to by the police, last night!

I think it has been suggested but not in an official capacity!!! My sister told me this morning, not sure where she heard it?

Apparently football fans have been doing some of their own 'policing' too - good on them I say!

hot flash boris the doris finaly says something sensible

"The London mayor, Boris Johnson, has urged David Cameron to abandon the government's plans for substantial police cuts in the wake of four nights of rioting across England."

i think its unbelievable that communities are doing more to defend their property than the police..

has anyone read 'under seige' by stephen coonts, its a novel about similar things happenning in washington dc , and at the end the local populace get so hacked off that they storm the temporary jail and hang all the looters and burners from lamp posts

It's sat on my shelf unread. No need now you've spoilt ending ;-)

How fickle we are. I see the poor police have already started to get some flak for their handling of the situation.

The British public have as much of a mob mentality as the looters due. Quite happy to jump on the bang wagon and bash the new target of the day.

SUPPORT OUR POLICE FORCES

They are doing a difficult job with little thanks from the general public. If they hold off and manage things calmly they are ripped to pieces for standing by, if they rush in and crack heads the PC brigade screem police brutality and some poor officer is handed to the press as a whipping boy to make politicians look like they are doing something.

If they had the numbers to move in and arrest the scum whilst maintaining their ability to respond to new incidents they would.

If you want to blame someone, lets blame ourselves for standing by and allowing our politicians to reduce the budgets of our police forces. What did you do to stop this? I bet most of us never even bothered to write a letter to our local MP!
