IMO the police have their hands tied - there arent enough of them and they arent allowed to use water cannon, rubber bullets, tear gas etc

I agree they need to be let off the leash to sort this out but its not really fair to accuse them of standing arround taking photos

Im not accusing them, it whats happening. And its not thier fault at all.
Its crazy that our poilce force, thats sole purpose is to protect property and people, have to just stand there and watch this mayhem unfold.

They shouldnt have all this crap they have to abide by. They see someone looting or throwing things, get in there and take them down.

The sooner this Government gets a backbone and lets the Police do thier job properly the better.

Can we keep this a civilised debate please and stop with the personal insults otherwise the doors will close

We all have emotional feelings about this for various reasons but let's not let them get too emotional

Thanks

We need to build a few "super prisons" built for these bottom feeders. No tv or ps3s either. If these people involved in the riots got locked away for 10 or 20 years without the usual prison perks then I'm sure they would take it a bit more seriously when chucking petrol bombs into properly/at police. We just need a law to bypass the human rights pish for certain groups of scum :bang:

I feel rather embaressed to be a mid - 20's male living here in the UK.
I also feel very sorry for the majority of police who are here on the front line having to get abused and attacked.

very saddening! :(

Appaently sources on twitter saying
Have they not shut that site down yet

the army are forming in London
about time. Its appalling to watch shop windows and vehicles smashed while the police just stand there getting attacked

Appaently sources on twitter saying the army are forming in London

Not the most reliable of sources but if true this would be great. I say this not because I'm a fan of violence but because I would love to see the public backlash against these yobs if pictures go out of them attacking our troops.

I think you'll see every news agency and paper posting faces for identification and boat loads of people coming forward to shop them.

About time! Apparently our government didn't want water canons as outwardly it wouldn't look good. What do they think it looks like now!:suspect:

Yeah but they get no punishment

I wouldnt think the Army would be there. Surely the COBRA meerting needs to authorise that?

I wonder what would have happened if it was Davids house at Downing Street under threat? Do you think the Police would have had the same restraint if it was Downing Street under attack?

The rioters are guilty by definition. I'd happily see them sprayed with indelible ink and rounded up at a later date. But as for turning the streets of the UK into a free for all with live ammunition, no thanks. We don't live in Iraq.

When did this happen in Iraq? Saddam kept control and did it well. He also provided free health care, education and a high quality of living. The country was beautiful, the people were free to enjoy a trouble free life, but they knew the boundaries that they should never cross and the vast majority observed the rules. If they chose to step outside those rules they faced the consequences and rightly so.

Sadly, it seems this country, the UK has much to learn and as it learns we will see more of the riots.

The UK is in a downward spiral..... no money, no effective policing, no constitution that allows its citizens to protect themselves and a weak and ineffective government. It's run by lawyers, bankers and the media all out to make money for themselves who don't give a **** about anyone else! ...... Welcome to the UK 21st Century. :shake:

Bring out the soldiers with their big guns and stop this none sense right now! and if at all possible Shoot to kill!

I think there needs to be national service brought in now and if you dont like it LEAVE the country and dont return.

Laudrup, you postulate with the unbearable smugness of a man who's just laid his own laminate flooring. I would be grateful if you would just answer me one question please.

Why did you attack Amy Winehouse with such vitriol saying her demise was all her own fault because of the choice she made, yet you won't attack a man who chose to carry a gun,( or a girl who chose to throw stones at the police or the people who have chosen to destroy communities, businesses and lives) with the same savage joy?

Because this wouldn't be the first time someone was shot dead when there was no justification. Unfortunately we will probably never know the truth.

So then all thugs will be given a firearm.. Im thinking thats probably not such a good idea.

Sorry, wasn't he armed and didn't he shoot first?? What the hell do you think he was riding round in a taxi with a gun for.... using it to tip his hat!?

Some guy has been shot in Croyden it seems..

Not sure how people robbing their fellow citizens isn't anything different to lawyers, bankers, rich gits etc out for themselves. Maybe if the rioters had done something FOR their local community they might engender more sympathy.

Non-fatal shooting they're saying but no other details as yet

Mod edit: no personal insults please
I understand that, but it was factually correct.....:)...... Unlike the statement I quoted by our resident mastermind contender.

What kind of parents bring up kids like this, seriously. What kind of people think this is funny! Its gone too far now and the government need to crack down, and by that I mean do whatever it takes. Water canons, rubber bullets, tear gas and follow this up with a national campaign to identify the yobs later. Full on early morning police raids, kicking in the doors of the parents houses and see how they like it.

but a personal insult none-the-less ;)

What is easy to forget Is the decency of some too. 167 bus off duty but stopping people walking seeing if they need a ride to get safe, the men who walked a woman to the door to make sure she is safe and on and on. We forget that during these thing the British spirit so many say has gone is alive and kicking. It just doesn't sell newspapers.

I think we need the troops on the streets now. Stop it now !!!

You have got to be joking

I'm usually very liberal :naughty: but personally I'd like to see some good old fashioned chav/ned cleansing with a 6month follow on campaign targeting their families and friends and so on- this gene pool needs eradicated. The money we save on these benefit swindling scumbags would be a real boost to the economy and it would be a pretty cheap campaign- it's not like we'd need cruise missiles or anything- though you have to admit it would be pretty funny- get it up ye ya wee bast...:lol:

You can now be crowned King of the Right Wing after that.

At this stage it's a miracle we haven't had any deaths. Virtually every building I've seen on TV burning have living accomodation above them.

We must look like a complete joke of a country to the world right now.

When it was first said about putting military resources on the streets I thought it was a bit OTT but the more I watch the more it seems like the only option. I feel for the police who are stretched but where the hell are the riot resources, tear gas, bean bag shotguns etc...

If you know that for a fact get in contact with the BBC.

London has gone feral:

Peckham
Lewisham
Clapham Junction
Croydon
Bromley

and that's just south.

My iPhone was grabbed & pulling out to file was almost as, if not more dangerous than being there. I've endexed for the night as it's just too dangerous to have camera kit in any area. Similar reports are coming in from photographers across London.

This has absolutely nothing to do with last weeks shooting, it's plain old fashioned mayhem.

The building that went up was a baby linen shop!

A lion in London, ho hum!

Well captured though!
