So... this 'ere southern meet

lol it doesnt matter where you are, if you were prepared to make the journey to scotland i am sure the scottish members would be glad to see you ! same goes for the south ! although i think the ladies would like Jonny to go ;)

If it's going to be Dorset how about the Swanage steam Railway and Corfe Castle? Only thing is we'd need to have an alternative plan for dodgy weather....

I'm sure there must be some homosexual members to the community somewhere in the vast mass of people..

anyway, I'm going bed :D

Might not be able to do that weekend in Oct. If it could be done one Sunday in November, that'd be better for me...

OI! Flippin Northerners...this is OUR meet we're talking about!

 I get the best of both worlds - I'm a northerner but live in the south, so does that make me eligible for both? ;)

We have a couple of things in the pipeline already ! ;)

Looks a bit cramped for a meet

And NOT another zoo.............I couldnt stand another 68 more zoo photos with 43 of them the same!!! :bonk: :D :D

If we get something arranged soonish then I can do London - I know it's further west than Dorset before someone slaps me, but the rail fares are cheaper :p

I don't fancy a zoo though.

Ummmm I always thought London was further East than Dorset  or am I missing something?

We can't do the 21st - we got a Wedding to do! Sunday's fine though .. how about going steamy in Alresford/Alton on the Watercress Line...?

[orienteering] goes away to check map and compass - Yep, London is definitely much further East than Dorset (unless you start from Plymouth and travel in a Westerly direction for 24,500 miles) [/orienteering]

Well, I'm free the whole weekend, so I'll just trundle along to wherever, whenever :)

I would be up for London as I think you can get a great mix of stuff there - from people, landscapes, architechture, etc... whatever floats your boat. It'll be all Christmassy then too!

LOL - absolutely!

Wherever we're going we'd best sort it out quickly - the Northern lot are stealing a march on us and arranging yet ANOTHER meet!

I'm kinda in the middle of everyone :crowded: , but am struggling with October as I'm going on my jolies to Edinburgh, then Malta, then flying up to see my Ma and Pa in bonnie Brechin (Scotland again), so if I can i'll try and fit in with the dates people come up with.

Yea, I've already decided if we end up at a zoo, I'm only shooting people, insects and fish... I'll be trying very hard not to photograph the animals.

...looks like we may go for central London instead.

May I suggest the South bank; You've got the Millennium Wheel, National Gallery, loads of bridges, Skate parks, Several interactive water activities, Talented buskers, bucket loads of tourists ...etc etc....Oh and architecture overload.

Now this idea I LIKE! I love that area at the best of times and it's great at weekends - there's the book stalls there too.

Ok, London it is then :D

Sat 21st or Sun 22nd October for me as this is the only weekend I have off.

Sat 21st for me - prefer going out for the day on a Saturday than a Sunday for some reason.

Groovy - OK, I say we give it a few days for people to go "Oooohhh no, I can't do that date // location!" or "sounds groovy!" before we commit to this date // location.

Basically I'll be coming by train, I want to get tickets booked now because they're significantly cheaper, but I obviously don't want to book tickets only to find the date // location changes :)

Cool - wouldn't mind a quick visit to the national portrait gallery too ;)

"Sounds Groovy". :D

For those on tight budgets...The Tube is about £4-5 for a full day all zones ticket. And there’s a Mcsuger near the wheel for food.

I'll personally be going for the slap in the face version where I pay about a tenner for coffee and a rather fancy beagle.... upon receiving this pittance for my hard earned cash... I will then thank them politely.

Ah yes, the wonderful world of Starbucks I assume?! (Tastes nice though - I'm likely to join you!)

Although, at this point we'll be able to buy a pot of tea for four...that'll scupper them.

Its only been a couple of days for this new date and place, but I can't help think we may need a poll with more dates...don't you think guys?

I agree with the way this thread has turned. I.e. 'come on peeps let’s blinkin set something in stone type feeling to it. .... Perhaps need to give this thread a little more time though... But stick with the place yea?

More?

The later dates, although colder have the added benefit of less leaves and darker evenings earlier....which will make for some super shots, with the wonderful street lighting and stuff around their....in fact I’ve been waiting all year to take one shot of the wheel, but I need the leaves off the trees to make it work.

I promise to bring 3 tripods. (Basic ones, because that’s all I have :D )

Sat 21st for me. Meet on the South Bank by the book stalls then?

can do any date after the inc 21st onwards - just need a little notice to reshuffle stuff in case of clashes

Hows that for flexible??

London! That sounds much better. Lots of pubs and eateries as well :) But I can't make it in October as I'll be out of the country. But I am seriously interested in mid to late November. As long as no one tells the sister-in-law-from-hell that I'm in London :shake:

21st October for me. I have no other time off work, and I'll be oop north in November, plus I'm visiting London with friends on a girlie shopping trip in November so no camera allowed then :(
