So there will be a royal wedding next year, any takers?

Well maybe I'm the only one that thinks it's a good thing. They do obviously care about each other, and it's not exactly been a 'shotgun' engagement.

With any luck we may get a day off too.

FYI the Middleton family aren't really 'upper class', her mother was an Air Hostess and her Father was a Dispatcher for BA before they set up there own company and became self made millionaires.

With you there Andy and if any of the grumpy old gits on here got the call to take the piccies they would soon change their tune

Bad news guy & girls, just discussed this with William and Kate, they decided to not have a professional photographyer and instead hand out disposable cameras to the guests

God, if only that were true :D

I heard uncle Bill gots a good camera so he should be able to do the pics for nothing........

:exit:

In the interests of the global economy, the national debt and the hoo har with who pays for what when and where, Wills and Kate have announced without delay the final plans for the big day.

So sorry to all the hopefuls who wanted to shoot the photos, do the disco, the food, the wine and everything else, you've been beaten to it:

These threads always end up pro or anti royal guess thats inevitable
For my part though am anti :D

In this age of austerity I wonder if the Queen will ask the bride's parents to follow tradition and pay for the wedding?

I have no interest in the celebrity culcha or this royal wedding. I would wish the couple every happiness and all the luck in the world and hope that they manage to get the wedding THEY want, not what they might get pushed into having...

Good luck to them, and I know it's not their fault - it's just the ridiculous media hype I could do without.

Hardly. That line died out with the Tudors in 1603. The Royal Family are descended from George 1, who was the great grandson of James VI & I and Anne of Denmark. James was a Scot.

Who was the son of Mary Queen of Scots, who was the daughter of James V, who was the son of James IV, who was married to Margaret Tudor, who was the daughter of Henry VII; making James I the great great grandson of Henry VII founder of the Tudor line. How else would he have had a claim to the accession of Elizabeth I?

Yes but she was neither king or queen proper, she was the kings consort, and the title queen mother title was awarded.

We are talking about bloodlines, not about who is regent. Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was very very Scottish, and her great grandson inherits that blood! :D

POAH was trying to claim that the Royal Family had nothing to do with Scotland, which is blatantly wrong! :D

As for the being born somewhere..... The Duke of Wellington had something to say about that!!

That damned flooding in Cornwall is disrupting coverage of the royal wedding.

Or the Jocks claiming an Anglo-Norman as Scottish; ie Robert de Brus!!! :p :D

Because we wouldn't necessarily be paying tax to keep our mate's daughter living in a flaming palace with hot and cold running servants ??

It's just another parasite to have to feed IMHO

nah, he was born here, and under FIFA rules he qualifies :)

Just as being born in a stable doesn't make you a horse

Exactly. I seem to remember Ian Hislop making that observation on HIGNFY when it was mentioned that he was born in Wales....

Now, now I don't think they'd try torching another one :naughty:

Sure about that? There is a fair amount of evidence that he was born on the family's English estates in Essex! :p

It's a parody on a quote from The Duke of Wellington when accused of being Irish. :D

As sure as you can be under the circumstances. That's the first time I've ever heard that though and I can only find one tenuous link, most articles suggest he was born in Ayr.

The genealogy is correct but Margaret Tudor's marriage to James IV merely created a relationship that placed James in line to the throne because Elizabeth was childless. He was a Stewart, not a Tudor.

Anyway, this misses the point. I disagreed with the original post that said "English.... 100% Anglo Saxon with just a dash of Viking". James was a Scot, descended from the Stewart line. His descendants, through his daughter Elizabeth, were German, although I'm not sure the term was in use during the C17th?

How low key will this ceremony be? Surely with the world in recession and the government making huge cuts accross the board the Royal family wouldn't be vulgar enough to host a lavish wedding ceremony with our hard earned money !!!

So when that parasite piloting a helicopter comes to save you when you are stuck in a blizzard on Snowdon, you'll tell him to **** Off.

Oh and his parasite brother who fought in Afghanistan suppose he's a ****** as well, not forgetting the parasite Uncle who risked his life in the Falklands and the Grandfather who fought the Nazi's in WW2 and the Great Great Uncle who died in WW1

No! ...... I suspect they will be using their own hard earned money for the lavish wedding ceremony :| FFS!..It's the Royal family ... not the Royle family :D

My friend Kate has asked me to cover her wedding. I have a kit lens and a 400D I am planning to buy a flash but have no backup camera apart from the one on my phone. I asked them to get a Pro, but they said they can't afford one as his family is paying and they are having a tough time in the recession.

I tried to tell them no, but they say I take great pics and it'll be one for my portfolio. I really don't want to do it and just enjoy the day, but they insist as they say they don;t want to pay but they want a memory of the day. What should I do?

Thinking about Cornwall, bringing this down to earth, remember Camilla will be on the photo`s

You're kidding, right? We'll be paying for this, you don't honestly think the Windsors will put their hands in their pockets for any of it, do you? I mean they applied for a grant (designed for schools, hospitals and low income families) to pay for the heating in their palaces.

Bear in mind the Queen has a personal fortune in excess of £300million....
