I'm betting (hoping?) it wasn't any of the things in this article.

I refuse to do the gift aid bit these days, why should they need name/ address/phone number and email ?
Yes I'll give stuff to charity shops but not that gift aid bit, same with entry to certain places it just generates junk mail and phone calls
To prove you're a taxpayer? Because if you weren't, there'd be no tax to claim back?
That's the assumption on my part anyway.
Pretty sure the taxman doesn't have my email address or phone number so my address should be enough to prove I pay taxes,
he definitely knows that![]()
I was asked to fill in a gift aid form at the Red Cross shop, but apparently it only works for them. The sensible thing would be to have a gift aid number that could be used in all charity shops. You don't have to provide email or telephone number for GiftAid. They may ask for it but it's not a compulsory requirement.
Oh indeed, I've not got a problem with supplying name and address really (in the absence of what you suggest, which I think is a good idea), but if the form includes phone number and email, you aren't required to complete those parts.I was asked to fill in a gift aid form at the Red Cross shop, but apparently it only works for them. Perhaps they should tell their employees that ?
I was once told that it was necessary information to make the claim, refused and that was that,
no longer do gift aid and don't intend to start, wonder how many do automatically fill it in and get swamped with spam calls and email.
There must be a reason they put it on the forms, if it's not required to claim![]()

DAMN! I wondered where those decoy's wentI'm betting (hoping?) it wasn't any of the things in this article.http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/l...y-shop-lists-full-8254616#zcZyktLaREUhCC3J.97
I've never had any "comeback" from "gift aid" either.I would be interested in this as I have many family and friends who support gift aid and not one has mentioned being swamped with spam of any sort because of it..

I've never had any "comeback" from "gift aid" either.
But then I've never given a phone number or email.
They probably only need your NI number anyway, but I guess a lot of people don't know it, off the top of their heads anyway.
There always has to be one smart arseOh oh, sir..please sir!! I do, I do!!![]()
They could of course take a tax reference or NI no, but that'd be too easy for charities to fake, so they ask for a name & address so the tax office can cross ref to make sure you're a taxpayer.I was asked to fill in a gift aid form at the Red Cross shop, but apparently it only works for them. Me too, not my tax ref thoughOh oh, sir..please sir!! I do, I do!!![]()
