Ordered a new TV for my mum for Xmas online from Tesco this morning, we went in store this afternoon and lo and behold there was the model we had ordered sat waiting, so we asked and the cashier on the tech desk said that wasn't a web order and was £30 more than our identical TV so we couldn't have it, we have to wait for our online order to arrive..................so run that by me again, we ordered that TV online, its now in stock but we cant have it and its 30 quid dearer:thinking:

Speak to someone higher up than the cashier on the tech desk ......

They don't keep that TV in stock according to the cashier and it wasn't ordered, it was not a return so have no idea as it was unopened awaiting collection from someone.............yet it wasn't ordered......????

when you went in this afternoon, was that when you were told your collection would be ready?

I am sure if you had talked to a manager you might have got sorted..

But surely when you order online that is online stock not the chosen collection store stock.?

No we ordered this morning, called in for some shopping during the afternoon and as we were passing the Tech dept noticed the same model we ordered so asked about it and were told it was an online order but had no customer details with it, and as it was an item they don't stock, they didn't know why it had arrived, they said they don't sell many as its not their Tecknika brand (ours is a Sharp) but they wouldn't allow us to take the TV as our order even though they could see on their system we had that very TV on order and our email on the wifes phone confirmed this.........strange way to do business as they didn't have any other orders for that TV

Going off how Curry's do it, the TV you ordered online will have that TV's unique Tesco serial number allocated to it. Should you have any problems and need to return it the serial number must be the same. If they give you the one you saw in the shop it could have a different number and you would have hell of a job returning it.

Yep. It would throw the stock system out as well.

Playing devils advocate here - so, they let you take that TV as your order, your TV order arrives in tomorrow / Monday, you get a call as they follow their protocols and contact you to say it's arrived in and whats to stop you (apart from being honest and possibly causing a lot of confusion in their system) going to collect it - either you return it and have a TV for free or keep both and have 2...

I suppose the other issue, is what happens to the other person that ordered that TV...

Just wait for your order to arrive in and collect :)

They only have the one order for that TV .............ours, they have said that.
The store does NOT stock that item so its looking like the item is what we have ordered but they have not got the paperwork with it

but as you said, the store doesn't have the customer details for it.
no need to get worked up about it as your expected/promised delivery date is not affected.

Having read your posts again you refer to 'ordering' the TV, have you actually paid in full or have you made an 'order and pay in store' request?

1st world problems eh? Some poor b*88**s don't actually have anything to eat this Christmas.
Calm down, go back when they tell you it's in store and collect it, you didn't actually go there to collect it today, so you've lost nothing overall.
Matt

Paid up front, called in today and the one they had is now on display, not to worry I will simply collect tomorrow and deliver it tomorrow evening, the reason I want it fast is, my mother is in hospital and coming out very soon and her old TV has just given up the ghost so would like it all set up and running when she gets home.
