So Orange got the iphone...

With any luck the competition might keep prices down. Not that I'll be getting one...probably...I don't know

I dunno, registered interest but I have 18months left on my contract so won't be upgrading anytime soon, it will really depend on where wm an mobile mac compare at the time

I heard on the news that Vodafone also now has it too..

edit: yep, it's on there home page, to register interest.

The exclusive deal with 02 Ran out, or is due to run out which is why it will be available on most networks.

With orange and t-mobile merging i'd imagine they will have the best deals on it.

Hopefully T-Mobile / Orange will come up with a good deal.

I currently have 2 business contracts.

An IPhone on 02, which works out about £50 a month inc insurance, 500 minutes and unlimited texts.

And two phones on T-Mobile, one with web and walk, 250 minutes shared and 500 texts. Included insurance these only total about £70 a month and one was a fairly expensive phone.

I might get a 3GS on Orange, as i already have a contract with orange and i'm not thinking of changing network at all, I broke my original contract phone and the one I'm using now is not good.

When my contract runs out it will be may so hopefully it will all be sorted by then.

I'd love an iPhone. They're fantastic. I was going to get the new HTC Hero as I had no intentions of changing networks and that was the best smartphone orange had, but all things have changed now.

I would go for Hero anyway ;D

I want an iphone on o2 but cant afford one.
This is good news though as hopefully things will be more competative now

Well competition can only be good, unless they price them the same, wouldn't have thought there is much room for discounting.
What annoys me most is that I pay for an iphone bolt on for "unlimited" data and now O2 want to charge me extra for tethering to a laptop?

My iphone 3G should be ellegable for upgrade in december, with Orange and Vodaphone both confirmed as iPhone partners O2 *might* ave to lower their pricing to keep customers because I'm sure the other 2 will bring out lower cost tariffs to gain market share.

Good time :D

Not for me, I'm afraid. On a good day, with the moon in the right phase and the stars properly aligned, I get mobile coverage approaching mediocre on one network, poor on another one, and none on the rest!

How come?

Because it's better...?:p

However the line did thin a lot since the 3Gs came out (along with the software updates on the others) the Hero and a couple of other phones are still better if don't "mind" them not being made by Apple.

May switch to Vodafone when my contract is up then. Signal is far better here.

Every review I've read has said otherwise  I couldn't give a pig's ear whether it's made by Apple or not. It's a fantastic phone, regardless of brand!

ahh but thats only if 02 continue selling it

btw, you sure your contract is up in December? Mines due in January and I got mine on the day it came out.

Maybe I'm just a tad more special than you Gary ;)

Don't know what the fuss is about with iphones, it's just a glorified ipod touch ;)

Anyway the Nokia N95 8GB and N97 are way better and the new Nokia N900 will blow it away.

Paul

Yeah, its all stuff and nonsense, but some peeps are drawn to all things shallow and shiney.
Anyway, never mind that, what's the deal going to be with actual coverage on the Orange network, I mean, I get about a bit with guy's I work with who are all on Orange and the coverage is pizzle compared with 02.
I can see some real problems looming with iphone, Orange and connectivity.

Best network by far is vodafone. Can't wait to be able to move my iphone there. Mine is due in January. I wonder if moving a 3Gs to Vodafone will mean a cheaper contract????

O2 are so tight round that at the moment, but will have to lighten up a lot when the others get them too.

I get perfect signal everywhere I go except for my house, where I only get 1 bar. Not the end of the world really. Orange have always been exceptional for me.

The iphone is fantastic and I just think that people who disagree do it for the sake of it. Like hating apple, stick it to the corporations, blergh hiss etc.

It just takes everything you'd need to do and simplifies it. I can't wait to get one personally.

I disagree with it because it is portrayed as the be all and end all phone, whereas before the 3gs it was the equivilent of a kit car, it may have looked like a ferrari, however in reality it was just a rover with a bodykit. The 3GS has changed all that and the update has made it a much better phone, however (personal opinion here as well as some reviews) it's still behind some other phones out there. Unfortunately, it is made by Apple, and the DOES have a massive difference whatever way you look at it, bearing in mind the vast majority of sales of it have gone to pre existing Apple customers:shrug:.

I also dislike the attitued a lot of iPhone users have, for example when they are posting from their phones on forums, they always have to make sure they stick that "i" in front of phone when they mention posting on a phone, no other phone users spell out either the fact they are posting from a phone or what phone they are using...

But yeah, it is a good phone, just make sure you look at the competition first, don't go in blind, or you'll be another of those iPhone users shocked that others have facebook integration, can view flash, and have been posting for years to forums on their phones...

I totally agree that there are a lot of people who just like to show it off, but it's clever marketing.

ipod is a lot quicker to say than mp3 player.
iphone isn't that much longer than phone and makes you sound a lot more suave!

I've looked, a lot, at the competition, and the iphone really is suited to my needs best.

Nobody needs to justify to anybody why they want anything, its a free country, but iphone users seem to spend a lot of time doing it........maybe there are just too many nay sayers on forums..

I'm still waiting for something truly ground breaking and unique from iphone, something that isn't based largely around perceived lifestyle coolness.

Suave ??, If I had an iphone, I'd use it for sure, but hell I wouldn't tell anybody......, I'm noncey enough as it is.

I have jut ordered mine & the wifes from O2.
yes its a long contract, yes it may be pricier than the competition but I am assuming that O2's infrastructure is quite iphone centric, unlike the other companies.

I had 3 mobile sticks, O2, orange and voda, of the 3 only the O2 got a decent signal in the location where I would be most likely to use it, so O2 it was, and will be.
I did wait fir the 3 GS though, it seems to be at a decent spec level now

I have nothing against the iPhone - I just wish that the people that who own them would leave them in their pockets while you are talking to them rather than taking t out every 5 minutes to fiddle with it or show you something on it. Being a little less smug wouldn't hurt either ;)

i got the nokia n97 a couple of months ago when it was released
what a let down and i have had nokia's all my life
sold the n97 on ebay and picked up a brand new iphone 3gs about two weeks ago
it is a very good bit of kit and really quick compared to the sluggish low memory n97
no looking back for me

I want one, some guy showed me a slideshow on his and it actually worked, on mine the slideshow is **** and not worth watching
