I band I know is playing a show near me soon and I have been given access to take photos, however, I've never really tried to take decent photos before of live bands. Can anyone give me some tips to use? :p

Very basic advice as I don't know what kit you have access to, but I always shoot in manual, spot meter on the performers face and maintain a high enough shutter speed to freeze the action. You would need to use a very wide aperture and/or high iso setting to achieve this. Flash is a massive no no as well :0)

Hope that helped

As above really. Fast lens or high iso (if your camera can cope). Shoot in manual or shutter priority and keep the speeds high, they will move about faster than you think. Biggest thing I find is try to get some shots that put it in context too. Close ups of the lead singer are good but a wide shot of the whole band with a bit of smoke and funky lighting can work even better.
