Yes
I don't know what to use it for.

It's a decent one. Dont know the specific specs but it's a duo core, 500gb HDD 2gb ram

But I was thinking of getting hold of Windows Server 2008 and hosting my own website on it.

Or using it as my "Photography" computer?
I use my laptop and all the photography kills my memory.

Any ideas? Whats the best usage for it?

I was gonna suggest that you use it to stash your porn, but then seen on your signature that you're only 16 :nono: in which case I'd say get some games on it :D

As a backup
Duplicate all your laptop software and files on to the desktop.
You can then use either computer, whichever is convenient, and you have a full working backup of everything.

You really don't need a server OS and they are rather expensive just for an old computer. If you want to host your own web site then you will need a fixed IP address and decent bandwidth in and out. You would be better off stick a recent linux distribution on it instead. It seems pointless to me though as you can get a package with a .com web name, hosting with 5Gb storage and unlimited bandwidth for less than £15. They will do a much better job than you too :)

Probably the best thing to do would be stick linux on it. Use it to test your web site before uploading it to a server. Learn linux and use Samba to store your files/backups on it. This would be my suggestion.

I just read the specs. It has a 64bit AMD processor but not to sure how fast until I can get a monitor for it.

That's cheap, I thought I was doing well at £58 for 2 years, any chance of naming the provider?

Backup is the best solution, or stick in 4Gb of ram and a big screen and use it for image processing.

Try using 'sync toy', free from the microsoft website and very handy for making backups. I havent tried it, but it might be possible in theory to share the desktops hard drive across your network and and map that drive on the laptop, allowing you to sync across the network with sync toy.
