So, how good are these old things?

My Dad gave me his old film camera and a couple of lenses a few months back and I've not had a chance to go out and use them. Now I seem to have been bit by the film bug and I was wondering how good they were?

If people don't recommend them, should I sell them on? If so, how much do you reckon I'd be able to get for it all?

BX 20 was Practica's go at an automatic camera. Put a film through and if the exposure is okay, use it, their lenses were pretty good. It won't be worth much but very few film cameras are. That doesn't stop them being a useable photographic tool.

as colpepper says, sling a film through it and see if everything works. It's not going to be worth the hassle of selling it, but at the end of the day, it's a camera - and will make a interesting alternative to the holga 135 you were asking about a couple of days ago

My advice is to sell it now before you get the film bug and end up like this guy :D

Seriously, as the others have said ...put some film in it and enjoy.

Gonna have to wait until I go back to my house at Uni until I get to try it out. Got some free film off of my boss (who picked up a Canon EOS SLR from Oxfam for £20 ) so I can't wait to try it.

Still gonna get my Holga though :p.
