So getting a house is not good enough

Not wanting to stoke the fire but I was talking to a bloke a few weeks back and his friend owns a garage. He said two asylum seekers came into the garage looking for a car. They had some voucher from the government to get them transport to look for work.

The thing was they were looking at BMW's. The garage owner queried this pointing out more suitable cars and they said no they wanted the BMW (that the goverment - we were paying for) and the way they were doing this was they both had a voucher each and they were putting them together to get the BMW.

The garage owner phoned a number on the voucher to check this was OK and inform them what they were doing and the person on the other end of the phone said ..'Yeah that's fine they can do that' :suspect: :nono:

I find it a bit odd that people always assume BMW/Merc equals expensive car irrespective of age...new, yes of course but you can pick up a not-so-old BMW for a few grand. Did this bloke's mate the garage owner divulge figures?

Even "a few grand" sounds like a lot of money in this instance.....

FLASH:

I agree with your views in principle. I have a theory on your recurring question and i will answer it by adapting your example.

To me that is like someone being chased by a gang with knives running past all the houses in a street although there were lights on. Eventually they knocked on the door of the last house because they were told that the residents would help them.

The point i'm trying to make here is in their own country they are told that there will be a better life in the UK. The people smugglers advertise the 'better life' and its repeated so much that they believe it.

I may have come across as short sighted in my initial reply. I'm all for controlled, qualified immigration. As long as the immigrant is going to enrich the nation. By all means keep their own traditions, but also embrace being in the UK.

The main issue i have is the free loaders that seem to think that they are entitled to xyz when they somehow manage to get in to the country. Sadly this seems to be on the increase. As i noted in my original reply we have enough of this type of person bred in this country, we can not affod to retain others due to the red tape we seem to be bound with.

One last point regarding the amount of countries passed through to get to the UK. Geographically we are in a stable area of the world, none of our direct neighbours are in conflict. So obviously the 1st safe haven in the majority of cases would not be us.

We do have to assist the global refugee problem, but it should be a fair proportion. ALL nations should have to assist equally. At the moment it appears that the UK has an open door as opposed to others that have theirs bricked up.
