Hi folks,
So after many years i have finally purchased myself a DSLR, and i thought i would sign up here, so i can learn more about the world of photography, get help and support as I’m only a newbie and sometime in the future help others like me, make the most of their equipment.
I have been interested in learning photography for a while now as i have always been 'snap happy' but prices of DSLR have kept me away till now.
While I was able to take some nice photos on my compact it has let me down in certain circumstances, therefore I last weekend purchased a Nikon D5000.
I have been playing with it, and see that I have a lot to learn, but I welcome that challenge.
I have published some of my photos (both from my compact and DSLR) on my website www.hg80.co.uk
And would welcome feedback on my photos so far, so I know where I can improve etc
Thanks, and I’m sure talk to you later

Welcome to TP

You made a good choice in forums.
TP has taught me all I know, and made me a few good pals along the way.

Remeber, there's no such thing as a silly question, just silly answers :D

And congrats on the purchase

Now get reading. There's a TON of stuff to read on the forum ;)

Welcome from another newbie! I'm going to get my first DSLR soon. Lots of helpful advice on here.

i love that mustang. please tell me that's your car.

ps, enjoy the camera. i started off taking about 800 pictures in manual mode at each setting and then pixel peeping to see what what was happening! that taught me more in a few days than I had previously learnt from reading.

Welcome i hope you have deep pockets the want list will soon be very long.:nikon:

No the Mustang is from gamescom 2010 i think it was there to promote the new need for speed game, the photo was taken on my kodak compact and it was this trip which led me to buy a DSLR....

Excellent purchase - you won't regret it!

Welcome to TP

Good choice of camera there!

Good pics too. Do you work for EA or just visiting Gamescom?

Na i don’t work for ea lol,
I went over there for a trip, mainly to play the Guild wars 2 demo (as I’m a huge guild wars fan) and i loved the whole experience, the expo was amazing and Cologne itself is a beautiful and friendly city, it was this trip which got me to purchase the DSLR after seeing my compact not cut it in the cathedral etc.
It was soo great that I will be going again next year and I hope by then I would have homed my skills a bit on my DSLR and expect to take some better pictures.

Oh I see. I couldn't make it this year but will be there next year (with work). We have offices in Cologne as well, you're right it's beautiful although haven't had too much chance to explore.

Good choice of camera too btw! I got my D5000 a month or so ago after getting rid of my D40. Ace camera!
