Snowflake Macros always amaze me.

One of the most exquisite wonders in/of nature.

Thanks for sharing the link.

Stunning set! Ain't nature a beautiful thing...Now I'm of to read the Blog, to see how they're captured.

Is it true that you never get the same shape flake twice?

Here's one I took 6 years ago with my compact camera (which has a pretty good macro mode) we dont get snow that often down here on the south coast but I am looking forward to getting some other snowflake images now i have a dlsr with decent macro lenses

It's just stunning and I'd never realised that they came in cylindrical form either. Seeing macro photo's always has me thinking that there's more things in heaven and earth, the snowflakes must all obey the same laws of physics yet they are all so different, amazing.

I'm always astounded that it's said no two snowflakes are the same.

Cheers.
Putting reality head on here, snowflakes have a finite shape that they can crystallize into, it's just that we haven't seen two two same yet.
We haven't catalogued all the snow flakes on the planet and there are an awful lot of them.
Maybe a few billion a year in a small part of Greenland?
Now let's upscale this to the planet. There's a lot of snowflakes, a really big number!
Ok, that's a lot of snowflakes on earth, now think 100 to 200 billion galaxies, at least ten that times number of planets, some of which get snow, and that snow falls a lot.
Anyone want to proof this?
