Snow ... what are you going to do about it?

Me? I've notified tommorrows client that if the snow arrives as promised then we won't be on site. I've also set up a camera upstairs with remote shooting enabled so that it will take a picture every 15 minutes through the night. Not the most interesting subject matter but I'm not leaving it in the garden!

The aim is to merge them into a .flv file as a time lapse jobby.
 
I'm going to drive home in it in about half an hour then I'm going to go out in it for a Christmas do then I'll probably come home in it and go to bed.

If we're lucky we'll get 1/2 an inch of snow so I don't think it'll put me off doing what I was going to do anyway.

Hopefully I'll get some nice shots of snow over the weekend if there is any.
 
In all probability, there will be a weekend. My forecast is that the weekend will last for two days.
 
Charge the camera and put my snow chains on !
 
I may swap my 4.5 tog duvet for the 9 tog duvet and shut the bedroom window!

I will however take my time going to work tomorrow as there are loads of muppets who cannot drive round here in good weather, let alone on icy roads.
 
I'll be looking to use it as an excuse to not go to work.............

You've got that right!

Last years snow my 8 mile drive to work just north of Nottingham took me nearly 2 hours because of those exact people.
 
I will be going to work my last day of work for 2009 if the snow is as bad as they say then I am going to have fun in it due to my car being lowered and having roughly 7" wide wheels on it.
 
I'll just hug the radiator in my office a bit harder and demand another brew !
 
It's my last day at work as well but as I start earlier than most the roads won't be too busy ;)
 
well just in case ive been out to asda and done some panic buying of food incase we get snowed in with 1/4" of snow. ive also been panic buying fuel and trying to whip up as much panic as possible about the oncoming snow and how it will destroy christmas.


actually no ive done neither of those things, because we're 'ard up north, we'll just carry on regardless

bloody hell, here in Cambridge its already a few inches deep!
 
After having a painfully long drive home I'm not going out there again tonight. Drive in to work tomorrow should be fun, saying that no doubt it will be melted by them...

Bit annoyed I don't have a lens ATM, I'd love to get some pics in the snow at the weekend...
 
Ask to steal borrow my neighbour's dog and head up to the Park with him for some fun and plenty of pics!!! :D

We ARE meant to be getting heavy snow, but we'll see.

And yes, Puddleduck - on the weather the snow seems to just settle and hover over Cambridge from now til tomorrow night! Lucky begger!

Good plan.

Myself and my brother always used to go out in our cars for a play if it was snowy or icy. Our reasoning was that if you can't control it on slippery surfaces when you're trying to then you will not be able to do it when it happens by surprise................. and it was fun!

I am going to have a coffee in the morning while I wait for the postman and decide which the most scenic route will be to the feed store!
Will worry about minor things like snow later :lol:
 
Shall be making sure the van dosnt go below half a tank, as being that i work outside with no other way to warm up then the heating in the van, it will be running alot.
 
Im going to be enjoying myself out and about with friends cos college is canceled!
 
Joking aside.........

the whole Northern / Southern thing does amuse me when it comes to snow.

Up here in Scotland we get UK news and smile when (after weeks of snow) we get.....BONG - 'Snow grinds the world to a halt' because of an English sprinkle.

Then forums come alive with 'snowy' threads despite the fact that it's the norm for us up here..........

Anyway....

I'm not actually Scottish (I'm from Warrington) so whilst I now chuckle at the fact that 3 or 4 inches of snow are worthy of a 'bong' on the news I do defend the English against the fun poked at them up here as we have (up here) a million gritters and far less traffic.

thats it ,,go and find a large empty ( factory ) car park and go for a spin ,,literaly ,,,,(?) the trouble with today is ,the vehicle im going out in bends ,,i just hope the back bit dont come past the front bit :lol:
 
I remember last year on Post-Tour Leave from Iraq when it snowed in Germany - I was all excited at first - took photos etc...after three days of being unable to dig the car out I was getting very bored.
After two weeks of not being able to dig the car out I was chewing the furniture...
When I did finally manage to dig the car out, I discovered my 'all-season' tyres were only suitable for 'mildly-moist' UK winters, not Real European Winters... and so crawled back home carefully at 10mph after having driven all of 5km up the motorway to the next junction and left it there til all the snow had finally melted at the end of January...

Snow sucks.
