Who's sick of hearing about the extraordinary snow...... Jesus it's about 3cm at best.... All I have gears all day is how we are all doomed, madness.....

You would think the world was ending, Christ knows how the "snowy" countries go in...

Red and amber warning for what???? A couple of inches at best..

:clap::clap: i completely agree, this country needs to man the **** up and stop whining!!!!!!!!

Woke up at the usual time of 4am and there was nothing, by 9.30 I measured an average of 6 inches around the place. The worst is to come yet so they say

I can never remember having a day off school because of the snow, some schools have shut because it might snow !!!

Its winter, it snows.................... And not even badly.

Yeh, but what about the snow?

Half my office want home in panic. I have an hour and 20 minute commute and it was fine. I'm really not sure what the fuss is about.

I only had about 2 inches this morning. By tea time I had a good 8 inches.

Those pills I bought off e-bay are marvellous.

It's not really newsworthy when we get it up here.

The problem is we never hear the end of it on the news when you get it down there.

the bbc put a special programme on at 7.30 just about the snow!!! just half an hour after the 6 o clock news had finished, which was mainly made up about the flippin snow!
Im in south wales (llanelli) we've had 2 inches of snow, thats it. A friend is up near Caerphilly and even up there people are managing to get about a bit. it only seems to be the council/services that cant cope!

A few years ago when there was a bit of a snow storm they had camera crews up here, one reporter knocked on the door of an old lady that lived in the house below me and asked what it was like to live up here in weather like this, she replied " you tell me, you're the one out in it, I'm sitting by the fire".

About 3" here when I left at 7.30am this morning and my tyre tracks in the driveway had vanished when I got home this evening so we had plenty more during the day. Took me 90 minutes for the 9.5 miles journey instead of the normal 25 or so, all due to people getting stuck.

Snow causes traffic chaos here, because Bristol is all hills. I ended up pushing cars up one of the main routes in from the M5 because most other people were standing around watching them spin the wheels and moaning about the lack of gritting, which while a valid complaint doesn't help clear the road. I used the Audi as it's 4wd and manages in snow (although the "ESP" which is some kind of anti skid, traction control thing actually makes it grip much less than it should on snow). The other car doesn't like snow at all, so it stayed in the garage.

I love the way they go on about it like snow's just been invented, if you have to go out and can manage it then feel free, if you can't or it isn't worth taking the risk then don't. It's no major emergency, just get on with life! It's not like we haven't had ample warning - the Daily Express has been crying wolf since the day after August bank holiday.

All of a few cm around me. Disappointed as I was expecting a foot of it by the doom mongering that was going on. Nasty weather though as the strong winds were blowing icy powdery snow about the place. Road was clear pretty much. Did think neighbour was going to crash into their house as they slid down quite a bit of their own drive....

Did weekly shop mid week so no need to venture out. Lots of panic buying from those that can't plan more than a minute in advance.

It was really coming down last night and getting quite deep here in Gateshead, seems to be thawing out quite quickly this morning though :(

Almost enough for a footprint up here

It's the same over here in Northern Ireland too! I've been sick of this the past few years, since we had that really bad winter and a lot of my towns water pipes froze and folks went without running water for a while.
But the problem isn't the snow or freezing, the problem is that the government won't pay the money to actually protect us against this happening. I mean, in the countries that live in snow, they have big massive ploughs to just clear it all up.
What do we get?
We get 5 workers, out with spades, shovelling grit off the back of a lorry.

I mean in Northern Ireland, we created new riot control vans and exported them when England had those bad riots, why can't we import a few road clearers so people will stop whinging and go to work and school. Any excuse to stay off is what I think.

Watch it???? I was there! Just passed my test and got a job as a driver.
Now THAT was a winter!

I got up this moring expecting at least a foot of the stuff...weather reports last night said Heavy Snow around 6am this morning followed by continual snow all day...........not seen a drop of the stuff other than what came yesterday . On the plus side.....Clumber park was virtually empty today as were the orads...result

Anybody watch Winterwatch about the winter of 1963, now that really was snow

My sister was 3 at the time. My mum opened the front door, and little sis walked outside and - was gone:lol:
That was deep snow, and yes, little sis did get rescued:shake:;)

We still have loads of snow in bristol, at least 10cm if not 15. Most side streets were full of ice, hills treacherous, etc. Despite having winter tyres I ended up walking 7 miles - loads of fun and some nice exercise.

All joking asside though all the idiots going out panic buying. Seriously its not the apocalypse its just a bit of snow, true is more than we usually get, but panic buying really doesn't achieve anything. If its not your shopping day and you already have food and 'supplies' then you don't need to go out and get more, the bloody shops will still be there tomorrow & have all been open throughout this new ice age. I do wonder about the mentality of the human race sometimes.
