All,

Going to Snetterton very soon for the first time. However, lurking in motorsport critique area I have seen some people criticise that lots of photos are the same from Snetterton.

Any advice on where to get the best shots from? I might pop across tomorrow if weather isn't too bad.

Thanks

Hallo,

Sorry I haven't seen this sooner.

Complaints usually come from the fact that most photos published are at the Russell Chicane, the chicane before the start/ finish straight.

Problem is, that'a about as close as you can get to the track without a media pass, and it is also where a lot of action takes place. If you don't have a media pass, a good place to stand is on the concrete 'slab' at the chicane - very close to the circuit and you can get some good angles.

Places that aren't that great are turns 1 and 2, Riches and Sear, as the spectators are just too far away. Sear takes you to the Revett straight - if you're good at panning this is the place to get some side on pans as it's the fastest straight in the UK (unless I'm driving ;)) - There is a speccy banking and you are fairly close.

The esses is another good photo spot and a favourite spectating spot for me - best bet is to drive up to this one. After you have paid to get in, before you drive over the bridge there is a zebra crossing, turn left and you go up a steep banking to the Esses viewing spot. Get here early on busy days!

Hope you got some good shots anyway, or I hope this will help. I'm there most car weekends so might see you at some point!

Sound advice, except on busy events BTCC, BSB and so on, you won't be able to drive over the bridge!

Paying customers are parked-up before the bridge...

We got on the infield for the last BTCC!

So did we. :)
Riches isn't too bad to be honest from the spectators side of the fence, the distance isn't too great.
These were taken at Riches from inside the fence of the camping area.

The banking between The Bombhole and Corum is supposed to be opening to the public later this year. Not sure if there will be any debris fencing in the way though.
You can also take photos from the banking from the outside of Russell or opposite the pits as well.

Once the Coram banking is open, spectator - wise it's going to be great. You can pretty much see most of the track from the right point.

Much depends on the motion of the sun.

For the morning I generally spend my time between Coram and the Esses. The new spectator banking will be open soon... Inside of Riches works better in the morning.

For afternoons I generally face the opposite direction, so outside of Riches, Russells, Startline straight, Pitwall

I heard a rumour that the long-mooted track extension may happen this winter which may bring new angles...

We went last weekend but the spectator banking wasn't open, the commentator said something about not being open until next year now.

It was supposed to be open for BSB and BTCC but thats been and gone. The grass hasn't grown properly. Media have been allowed on it recently, but so far its a better watching place than a photo place.

It's really a noise bank to prevent the Nimby's from complaining.
