Smudge : To speak quickly, usually in a bizarre ‘mockney accent’ in order to bewilder your subject into posing for a photograph before actually realising. As used by many cruise ship photographers.
I think it comes from year ago. Some photographers used to touch up photos using dirty fingers and thumbs. Usually covered with pencil lead. (Smudging them). This was prevalent with street photographers. And those on seaside proms.
