I very rarely check my phone bill as its always the same, however today I decided to cancel and clear some old direct debits ,upon doing so I noticed my next bill was a lot more than normal ,this led me to check my bill,i have a friends and family discount and my bill is split so its not easy to deduct exactly how much I am paying as the discount is applied at the end so I called O2 who basically said I was paying £10 a month to a company call imieurope ,a subscription I have set up,told them know way and can you investigate, I was told I had to text stop to this number 80252 ,and I am not the only person this as happened to,i asked 02 to barr the number and they said they couldn't and the stop message should do the trick ,I have had the message back saying it should stop from the next working day ,O2 did say they would try and get a refund but to say I am pixxxd off is a understatement, cant believe I have been caught out...I still don't know how this as happened ,the company are not available at the moment but I will be trying to contact them tomorrow

This is one reason I've always preferred payg to contract as you can only be caught out like this if there is enough credit for them to "steal" the money from your account! I generally add £5 when my balance drops below £5 so it would be rare for me to ever have over £10 of credit on my account.

Its annoying that the major telecoms companies carry on sending large cheques to these scammers at the expense of their own customers. Don't know why the regulator doesn't do more about this.

that will teach ya not to go on porno sites den :runaway:

Not allowed.....phone doubles up as a work phone as well, and I work in a school, not happy at all and well peed off that it as happened, something to do with tapatalk and man of the match award from this company ,will spend as long as it takes to contact them tomorrow IMImobile Europe Limited

Cheeky buggers!
Just goes to show you have to watch these people like a hawk!

Problem is Chris I have no idea how this as happened, I cant do dodgy sites on my phone,as said it acts as a work phone as well ,I have asked them to barr premium messages and they say they cant do it....

Is your phone set up to install non signed software? I am aware of some android apps that are downloadable outside the apposite that ask for permissions way beyond what is expected, e.g. make phone calls and send sms.

There are also some apps within the android store that have the same problems.

Quick update, I managed after two hours to finally find the company who have my number on their database ,I was very surprised how quick they were to offer a refund ,i had a football scores app on my phone and apparently i was paying a premium text number for them to send me my local footballs team man of match when they played ,it was a link on one of the ads they have ,i also found a site were you can lodge a complaint ,i also found out O2 take a portion of the money from these companies .

Result! but they are still cheeky gits for taking it in the first place!

I would imagine that the phone companies can bar premium messages very easily, they just don't want to...

Sorry about the selective quotes, but it just illustrates what it's really all about. There's nothing wrong with making profit by legitimate business means at all, but this kind of thing goes far beyond that, the phone companies must know this but they don't care.
