Ok, maybe a strange heading for the equipment thread but I was just making lunch (as per the title) when I discovered the salmon was packaged alongside this:

Ok nothing special there. A silver reflective bit of card. Could be useful as a reflector I suppose but so what? There are plenty of such packaging materials you can use in similar ways. But check out the reverse:

Ooh a gold reflective surface! Ok that's a bit more interesting. A warm/cold light reflector of fairly decent size that's free (well if you are having salmon and bagel sandwiches). Nice!

Here's the brand in case anyone feels hungry (other brands are available but whether or not they come with free reflectors I don't know...)

Just a warning... DON'T keep it in your camera bag unless you want all your kit to obtain a pervasive odour of old smoked salmon (which does NOT improve with age...) ;)

IIRC you do a lot of outdoor macro stuff, so keep the card somewhere dry outdoors (out of the reach of furry munchers!) and it should last a while, then you can have the pleasure of replenishing your reflector stock - shame that'll involve eating more smoked salmon!!! :D

Yeah I gave it a good wash with fairy liquid but just having given it a sniff, there is definitely something lingering. Yep it's going to be kept out in the fresh air for a while, thanks for the heads up!

As the saying goes, there are two things that smell of fish!
