Smashed my 24-70L. Where to send for repair?

Shooting a christening yesterday, as everyone was enjoying the food, my 24-70 decided to unmount and smash into the floor.

It won't remount and focus and zoom are grinding when turned.

I have to send it for quotes, but who are the best to send to?

I had issues with Canon Elstree last time and someone on Twitter mentioned Fixation. Any good?

Who do people recommend for lens repairs? I don't want to get it back several times and have to have it re calibrated several times to get it right.

I get all my repairs and maintenance done by Canon at Entree. They're usually pretty good.

The other authorised Canon service centres in the UK are:
- H Lehmann in Stoke on Trent
- A J Johnstone in Glasgow
- Colchester Camera Repairs

Fixation have a good reputation but they're not authorised by Canon.

Unfortunately shopping around will be time consuming and expensive because none of them will give you a quote without seeing the lens.

suicide attempt maybe! Lehmann at Stoke have always served me well, if you are a cps member it helps!

Fixation are excellent. Had a 400mm serviced there recently. Very pleased.

H Lehmann in Stoke are ok, had a small issue sending a body in for service but they quickly sorted the issue. Or call Jackie at the Canon RCC in Elstree, not sure of the number from the top of my head but will post a reply with it.

Spent 20 minutes trying to get through to Elstree. Going for Fixation. Cheers for the advice everyone!

Very strange, I found elstree to be fantastic, and the cheapest out of the above mentioned.
