I cant find it on you tube, but I saw an advert for a Nokia phone the other day and it was a pile of SLR camera's and lenses being crushed by a large press.

So there you go, its on TV so it must be right, get rid of all your gear and buy a nokia camera phone !!

I dont know why I havn't done it before !!!

It's funny, I could have swore my E420 is higher res that 8mp, and I'm pretty sure that it'll take better quality photos than a freaking mobile. My mates have rushed outin the past to buy these camera phones that are supposed to be as good as a compact digital...but they never are and I always end up laughing at them.

My phone's great. It makes calls, sends texts, and it even has a PHONE BOOK in it.


Oh, and it's got a 3.2mp camera in it with a carlzeiss lens that takes lovely grainy, badly focussed (and mostly badly composed :D) shots :banana:

No, N73. I don't see the point in phones that are all singing, all dancing. The only thing that tempts me is the idea of an HP iPaq, so I have a phone and PDA in one. (I've tried the HTC/blackberry stuff and they're just not up to the task lol).
 
My mobile is so old I have to put a roll of film in it to take photos :lol:
 
Camera phones are ok if you accept what they are and what they can produce. This was taken by my N96 at the weekend for an ad in the for sale section.

The phone is as much of a replacement for an SLR, as it's a replacement for a Denon HiFi, or DVD player, or 46" LCD tv.

cameras on phones are rubbish, regardless of how many mega pixels. i doubt they'll ever have a full frame sensor:D wonder what the crop factor of a mobile sensor is..???
 
I once believed a 5MP camera phone to be awesome.

I soon changed my mind when I had one.
 
I think that's a great advert, although I did cringe at seeing the Cello going pop. It does have good visual impact and I don't really think it's trying to say that the phone is as good at all those jobs as the crushed kit.

The camera on my phone is now my most used camera outside of work and I love it. It can handle a huge range of circumstances and it's always there in my pocket ready to go. :D
 
Ouch! That made me cringe, a lot. I really hope that was all bargain basement crap before it went in that press :-)

I don't get the obsession with camera phones. I have one on my iPhone and it sucks, just like every other camera phone I've used; with a sensor that small, you're always going to get plenty of noise. I have my SLR for photos, and my phone for phonecalls.
