Decided to get a Smart TV, mainly for the catch up on various channels as I'm not sure I want Sky TV yet
So I connected my wireless mouse to it and it works fine on the TV bits, pretty useless add on really, but once the web browser is open the pointer disappears :(
Have thought about getting a keyboard just for the fun of it but no point if that's not gonna work either
It's a samsung, so has anyone any hints, or do I need to go down the bluetooth route
Feeling quite chuffed because I have manage to wirelessly network it to the laptop so I can bring up my pictures on it :D

make sure anyone in the house is careful - i read on here not long back that a guy was looking at something rather rude on his laptop and his girlfriend ended up watching it on their smart TV too!

Do you have a tablet? There might be an application to allow control.

My LG TVs has an application and will control everything but in and off I think.

Only me in the house so not a problem and my pictures aren't x rated :D

So basically unless I get some sort of tablet, I will have to continue browsing via the remote, which is a real pain, oh well seemed like a good idea at the time and the sale price was pretty good

You can 'play to' your TV from your laptop so you don't have to control things from the TV end.

In windows media player for example if you select some music tracks or whatever (highlight them) then right click on them you should have a 'play to' item on the menu and your TV should be there as a device that can play.

If its greyed out or not there you may have some more setting up to do but it should be in the TV manual or findable on google.

Yes I have no problem with that, as above have it networked to the laptop so I can show my pics etc on screen
What I can't do is get the TVs web browser to recognise a wireless mouse, the pointer shows fine on the TV side of things but as soon as I open the browser it stops working, I assume a keyboard would be the same

don't know if you've checked ... but i have a panasonic viera and i can use an app on my iphone which controls channels, volume, settings etc.. but also i can use my touchscreen on my phone as a mouse to scroll around the screen. So if you have a smart phone it might be worth checking if there's an app for your tv.
