I posted this request couple of weeks ago in the equipment section, hoping this may be more suitable place

I belong to a small camera club (15 members), We are in the process of raising money for a studio setup, looking at around £600 to spend.
We have a 20+year old pair of courtenays and a white vinyl backdrop (3mx6m) already, and are looking at adding a black one with stand and lights(x2) with stands.
Some of the money will be coming through a grant so we have to buy new stuff.
Any recommendations for us? the most important thing to us is the recycling time because there will be three shooters at a time.

You won't go wrong with Bowens, Elinchrom or Lencarta (in alphabetical order), so it really comes down to personal preference and price, including the price of accessories.

You could buy a Lencarta twin head ElitePro kit for £400. Add maybe £100 for a decent softbox and another £40 for a radio trigger and you're good to go.

And you can get very similar kits from Bowens or Elinchrom, although you may have to pay quite a bit more.

Most decent flash heads recycle pretty quickly - the kit I linked to recycles at full power in about a second and very much faster at lower power settings, Elinchrom are a bit faster and most Bowens are a bit slower, but the recycling speed on modern flash heads isn't really an issue unless you buy junk.

I hope that you won't have 3 people shooting at a time, there is only ever one correct position to shoot from and a subject can only face one direction at a time. Where fast recycling becomes important is when you want to take a few shots in quick succession, to avoid missing a good expression.

From my recent research the Lencarta kit gets my vote for quality, features and value for money. Will be ordering the Elitepro kit in the next week or so once I have sorted out all my clients orders for Xmas!

Cheers guys, I've been having a look around, (as have other club members). These Lencarta lights look good to me but the decision wont be all mine. We should find out next week if we were successful in a grant application, so hopefully we will be spending soon. I will take a printout of the lencarta stuff with me.

Garry can you recommend a set for around £200?
