Back in 2009, I bought a small Lastolite shoot through umbrella which I no longer have, from memory it must have only been about 19 inches across.

I am no longer able to find the one I have and I am now looking for a replacement as the one I have is way to big for my tiny room. Does anyone know of a source where you can buy small shoot through umbrellas ?
 
I dont remember seening a small shoot through recently (and I was looking the other week) What I did find was a decent size softbox, that folded up really small. It looked like one of those mini umbrellers, the bloke had it in his back pocket. Cant remember the make know, I'll see if I can find it again.
 
Plenty of cheap small ones on eBay etc and the usual lighting places.

I don't however consider anything under 24" acceptable and these for some reason became much harder to find at reasonable prices. I would be extra careful with the ones fitted with the new style fancy button mechanism. There are some real nasty examples like both of my godox 105d but larger ones are fine. The old and cheap pin design is absolutely fine, so not sure why they decided to mess with it
