Hi everyone,

I have a Sony RX100 III that has recently died and isn't worth repairing. I could buy the same camera again as I have loved the size of it and the image quality is generally good. However I'm thinking now is a time to buy a better or newer compact camera.

I have been looking at the RX100 VI and VII but I was wondering if anyone can recommend any other compact cameras for travel? I really do need something small that can fit into a bag. Also, I'm looking for a good optical zoom range (maybe more than 2x) with low light ability. I have a budget of around £1,000 for the right thing.

Thanks

I have the Panasonic TZ100 which is a 1" sensor compact with a 25-250mm zoom. I could be worth thinking about and there's a thread on here...

Good luck choosing.

If you like the RX100 III, I'd go for as new a model as you can afford. For me, it's a great travel camera, if for no other reason than that it slips into a shirt pocket. The Panny TZ-100 is about the same size but doesn't come close to the Sony in terms of IQ - I really should get rid of mine since it sits unloved in its case.
