small compact camera?

How cheap is cheap?
The little Sony A5100 i just acquired can do timelapse (with a wee app purchase for the camera)
I believe the Sony A5000 & A6000 will do the same.
Stick on the 16mm f2.8 prime and it WILL easily slip in your pocket.

Panasonic TZ100? Fits in a shirt pocket and does time lapse.

Are you using this camera? Are the pictures good, thinking of leaving one out for a duration, under cover of course. Got a gopro
but not that fussy on the fisheye lens
.

Good enough - for a compact. Significantly better than similar shots from its smaller sensored brother (TZ60 IIRC) but not up to DSLR or CSC standard. Not sure how many shots the battery would be good for in timelapse mode.

I recently got a used Sony RX100 III, and that had the Timelapse App installed from the Sony App Store. Saved me £7.99. ;) It renders great Timelapses in camera, or you can save as individual frames to create the timelapse yourself. You are limited to 990 images in your timelapses, though you can vary the time between shots. There are also options for sunrise and sunset which I haven't tried yet. It does have a toytown effect which can be applied and can work very well. :)

The RX100 family are not known for great battery life, but they have the option to be connected to an external battery source via USB. I'm going to get one at some point when I have a long duration timelapse planned.

Seeing as you have a Gopro already though, would it not be better to try a lens adapter if you don't like the view straight out of the box. :)
