Hello all.

My main camera is a d7000 and i love it, but when i go out to party's and down the pub or just out and about and don't want to take the 7k i need something smaller that i can pocket or slip into the glove box. So was looking for a smaller camera but still wanted good picture quality.

I have been looking at the likes of a J1 or a eos m and also the sony nex and the 4/3rds series.

I will have about £200 to spend so will be a used item, so can anyone recommend me anything?

Cheers.

Unless you have very large pockets I think the nikon J1, Canon eos-m and the Sony Nex would be too large.

If you can stretch your budget a little I would look at the Sony RX100. A brilliant little camera with cracking picture quality.

Micro 4/3? I have an Olympus E-PL5 coupled with a 14mm pancake or 9mm bodycap fisheye, easily fits in a pocket.
Picture quality is better than any P&S and IMO as good as lots of DSLRs.

If you want a CSC body and lens I think you'll be limited to early or unpopular models. I found the following within your budget - You'll be able to get a Panasonic G1 or G2 or Olympus EP1 with Panasonic 14mm f2.5 or Olympus 17mm f2.8 or a kit lens but the kit lens may make it unpocketable unless your pockets are rather large. Note that the G1, G2 and EP1 aren't trouser pocket cameras. They'll probably fit in a coat pocket though.

I believe that there are sometimes Samsung bargains to be had but the dealer I found the Panny and Oly kit at didn't list any Samsung bodies.

Thanks to everyone for the time you all took to reply, when i get home from work tomorrow i have a lot of reading to do.

Again Thanks.

Rather fond of my fuji xf1. It's a really nice little camera and something of a bargain at the moment. Last time I checked they were £125 at currys.

I can second the XF1. It's a lovely little camera and will slip in your pocket easily. Images are superb and it's a nice looking camera too.

Yeah at the price I also think the XF1 is a great buy, I love mine as a pocket camera.
