Hi - I'm new to this business.. started off as a hobby but is slowly turning into a small business. I've managed to get a job with a school taking their Holy Communion photos.. I'm v excited about it but I don't know what printer to buy or paper for that matter.
I've found places to buy strut mounts and sleeves so that bit is sorted.
Would appreciate your advice.. I dont have a budget in mind as I dont know what the costs are for these things.

Thanks,
Lou

To be honest I would take them to Tesco and get them printed at 10x8 or 12x8 for £1.20 DONE. Also if you have 150+ pictures it is 10p each for 6x4 ie £15. Yes its only Tesco but it will be sorted by the next day, there is no initial equipment outlay, it is easy, they use good quality paper etc. I have a couple of 12x8 prints here on Kodak paper, they will also do mugs, canvas, t shirts etc.

I doubt you will get anything worth using without spending a pretty good chunk of cash then you will have the running costs and time to factor in. I bought an Epson R2400 which is superb and cost £500 but it works out the same price as getting them to do it and if anything goes wrong they will redo it whereas you will have to pay to redo it!

If you install Script writer (see below) you can use the batch processor to stick your logo on the example pictures with SAMPLE across them etc in one go whilst you go for a brew.

Fantastic, just download the zip file and uncompress it then you need to follow the instructions in the manual (the manual's link is just above the download for the software). The manual is a little bit out of date on a few newer features but I am going to fix this during this week it is fine for the installing bit though.

I have written it to be flexible and multi-user so when you install the script writer scripts you then have to re-start photoshop and before you can use them you need to run "EDITOR - USER DATA" which creates YOUR folder of user data etc. You can then run the scripts as you want. Have a play then look at changing them with the program "EDITOR - EBS scripts".

There are a number of tips through the thread including a really good one using the ASK checkbox near the end and to get the most out of it its worth reading them.

Any problems then please just ask me.

yes ido believe cowasaki is right it saves loads of time because you go there ask for which ones to print of and they have all the paper etc, and if the epson r series star from around £400 imagine how many prints you could have with that kind of money, or treat yourself to a new piece of expensive equipment with money left other for the prints.
