Hi...

I have the RSH-12 Ball Head and ever since I have had it I noticed a small amount of play in the head.

Wasnt a problem till I tried to take multiple exposures...the play is just enough that turning the control dial on the camera physically moves it

If you zoom in on the picture I linked too, basically the whole head moves in the collar (the bit with the arrow on it)

Anyone else experience this....I have tried tighten everything obvious but with no effect

Not experienced that with my RSH-12. When I bung the camera on it, I usually adjust the tension screw so that I can move the camera and it'll stay where I point it without any further tightening. I have noticed that if I tighten up the larger screw, the head will 'pull' slightly if I really crank the tightness up - but as things seem to work fine with tension adjustment only, I don't use the large screw. I haven't used the head for close-up image stacking (though I have used it with a 500mm at short distances without issue) - so maybe my usage hasn't tested it rigorously.

Can't determine any play between the panning collar and the ball-head.

I had the same problem a while ago. I contacted Redsnapper and there had been some heads in a batch with the problem. I posted the head back and had a replacement by return post. The new head has been fine.

Hi

As above, contact Redsnapper and advise them of the problem - from what I've read there customer service is very good

I had one a while ago, and it had some play. Contacted them and they exchanged it with no problems

I think I was the first one to tell them of this problem. If you take the head off the tripod and look at the base of it, you will see a black ring stuck on it. Carefully peel this off and there are three grub screws underneath. Tighten these up and you should find the play or wobble on the head has gone. Worked for me anyway.
