It's been a big subject in the news recently, and I hear there are going to be Slut Walks in Cardiff and Manchester, but as my search skills are poor I thought I'd ask on here if anyone has any info of date and place .

As with any march there should be some good photo opportunity with this.

I'd help you

but i'll probably be pulled in for a disciplinary at work from the search results it potentially could bring up!

I've heard of the phenom of slut walks a few weeks back on the huffington. incidently what would be your prime reason to go and see the "sluts"??

;)

so what you are saying is you want to go take pictures of woman you don't know wearing shot skirts and tight tops.

the less media coverage these "sluts" get the better

ive never heard of this lol what is it? a bunch of 'sluts' doing a walk? ha ha

some police chief over in the states or canada remarked that if woman did not dress like sluts they would be less likely to be raped or recive unwanted attention so some woman thought walking the streets in skimpy clothes would be a good idea to protest at his comments.

I heard an interview with one of the organisers of these walks. They are an attempt to reclaim the word slut and rid it of it's negative connotations. They want to do with the word slut what the rap community have don with the N word and the gay community have done with the word queer.

I am having a fat, bald and dodgy beard march, next week.

shanlea - it started off when some police head honcho in the usa said certain women get raped due to what they wear and its thier fault too. - something along those lines

so since then women groups around the US have been on the march protesting against this.

here you go - quick google. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2011/04/03/slut-walk-toronto.html - started off in toronto

whilst I may not share the eagerness of the OP to photograph them I may go on a night out afterwards ;)

Maybe check out the website of the Manchester Evening News?

I found the one for London, in the Belfast Telegraph of all places:shrug:.

Maybe if the beardy, bulging baldies asked nicely they could join in:)

this is very old news.... they have a slut walk every friday night in manchester ... it's flippin' ace! :D

blimey... just googled it and this thread is already at #3! :woot:

Mention the word "slut" on a forum full of GWC, not hard to predict the replies..

Seems that Slutwalk London has had a logistical problem and have postpones for a week....should leave it clear for the baldies to go mad on the 4th.:shake:

For those wanting to keep up to date with the London event it's all on facebook

I was only thinking of you as I'm guessing the quality of eye-candy may be somewhat....errr.....limited if you have a march on your own;)

Eye candy... did you ever see the Greenham Common women? (come to think of it we are back to beards again )

Yes, but what I'd really like to do is hire a model I've never met before get her to take ALL her clothes off so totally naked and then take photos, I could post a few in the Nude and Glamour section of this forum and call them ART

Same reason at those photographers who shot the Goth Weekend or Zombie walks, because I'm a voyeuristic weirdo :D

Why do we always seem to copy silly ideas from the states?

Would this be the silly idea that rape victims deserve to be raped because of the way they dress, or the silly idea to protest against a law enforcement officer promoting the idea that rape victims deserve to be raped because of the way they dress?

I foresee a little bit of agression from the participants of this if you start poking cameras at them.

I think if you read a number of the original reports from this then he was suggesting that the way you dress or act can contribute to the odds of you being raped/sexually assaulted, that's very different to saying that this a right state of affairs.

the silly idea of a walk in the UK to protest about a single (albeit high up) officer in the US saying something idiotic

if we were to protest the time an American said something stupid no-one would have done anything when George Dubya was in charge!

The same sort of thing has been said by judges, the media and public figures in the UK as well.

I think we should all have an 'open door' day

Everyone should leave their front doors wide open and go out on a protest march against the police telling us we are more likely to be victims of theft if we don't protect our properties and valuables from opportunistic thieves. Just because some people leave their front door open why should they be burgled....... it's just so unfair! ;)

Hardly a fair comparison.
