Slow Photojournalism

Isn't that just documentary then? I'm not sure what slow photo journalism means :)

I agree with everything it says though, and project based work always produces the most interesting stuff.

I'm not sure either to what it means, it's not a term/phrase I have heard before.
There are potential projects all around us if we perhaps dig a little deeper into our environments but those projects which involve immersing oneself into a different culture/country must be a fantastic life experience.

Interesting article but as it says, it's not exactly a new phenomena is it? Plenty of Magnum photographers (and others) have done this kind of thing for years e.g. Koudelka's Gypsies was shot over 10 years or so.
I think the "new" element is they are recognising it as a new category for the award. I think this is a good thing, regardless of what they call it.

Nope, it's not new at all.. it's called documentary :) Actually... it depending upon what your intentions are, it could be ethnography. I'm glad there's a renewed interest in the longer term documentary project, but it's nothing new, and it's not photo-journalism really. Journalism implies reporting of information.. news gathering.. or investigation, where documentary is far more reflexive and thoughtful... or should be any way. Still.. all good stuff.
