Yes
My macbook has become really slow when browsing the web. I have done a speed check and the broadband is averaging 6mbs but if I click to open a new site I get the spinning wheel and "loading" showing in the toolbar but it can take up to a minute for the page to open. Any ideas to sort this out as it is like being on dial up again and it is driving me nuts.

Try Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner it doesnt cost much and if you run the maintenance files you will find it generally speeds your mac up. It has a tune up tab & optimizes the setting for the internet. Run it regularly & you find it makes quite a difference.

Is the computer slow or is it just the 'net that is slow? if the latter, turn your internet box (router) off and on and try again.

Is it every website?
What browser are you using?
What processor/RAM/OS are you using?

it is pretty much every web site. The computer runs fine and quick as ever in every other respect but not web browsing. I have installed all the latest software updates and use safari which has never let me down before. Broadband speedtest this morning shows 6.5mbps so that is plenty quick enough.
I reset safari last night and cleared the cache or at least think I did. Clicked all the prompts etc but have no idea if anything happened.

Still like dial up!!!!!

It may also be worth seeing if the issue still happens in Firefox.

on y macbook recently I've found that FF has slowed down, I think it's bloat, chrome seems much faster.

Cheers Nico, have tried that and still no joy. Certain sites open normally and others take an age, Apple support has some techie answer that doesn't really help so I am off to see the nerds in store tomorrow.

Good plan, they're usually really good!

just try creating a new account, log in using that account and see if it works any better. Sometimes problems can be associated with your user account

Problem now resolved and I have super fast tinternet again. Tech bod at Apple checked out my macbook and there were no issues with it but he gave me a few tips to try and it worked. Thank you to those who posted with advice.

What were the tips, just incase anyone is searching for the same issue and comes across this thread?
