A wee advice to everyone - Slow Down!
I dropped a camera. Camera is dead and I cannot verify the condition of the lens - as the camera does not work. So yeah, take your time ladies and gentleman. It is not worth it!

Saying that, any advice what to do now? Is there a cheap way of finding out what is wrong with it? Nothing is cracked so must be interiors. Or just put it up on ebay as faulty? Any good service in Glasgow?

Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. It might be worth listing info such as the makes and models of your kit that you have damaged, age, cost etc. as this may have an influence on advice provided. Good luck with getting it sorted.

I just returned from a sunset trip to Portencross Castle where changing locations, and rushing a bit to make sure I dont miss the light, I lifted my tripod with camera not fully attached. The camera flew few feet and bounced few times off the rocks. Camera is dead and I cannot verify the condition of the lens - as the camera does not work. So yeah, take your time ladies and gentleman. Sorry to hear this ... you won't be the last! :(
A. J. Johnstone in Glasgow are often recommended here.

Ouch! Can't help with Glasgow I'm afraid but I imagine most camera manufacturers will be happy to take a look and give you a quote based on what's wrong. You'll lose out on postage costs.

As for your lens you'll have to either go to a shop and kindly request to try one of their bodies (most of them will be helpful) or rent one for a few days. Of course there is the option of buying a new one (perhaps a cheaper more basic model you can keep as backup?).

The other option is to borrow from a friend/family etc. If you trust folks here you can request to post your lens to be tested and sent back to you. I have done that before for someone on another forum.

Lastly you can just wait till you have a fixed body or new one to test it.

Oh that's never good - I trust you have you camera gear well Insured ???

Les

Thank you everyone. The gear was relatively not expensive as it was Sony a6000 + 18-135 lens. However it was only few months old, and if I was to buy a new replacement if would be £800-900 for this combo. Not cheap to me. I am worried, however, that I may not be worth repairing :/ Just checking if my house insurance covers the accidental damage outside home.

first it happened indoors DIDNT IT ????? , next Johnsons in Glasgow for repairs

Perhaps not the best suggestion. The BBC has run a series of programmes about insurance fraud. The level of assessment which they showed being used by many insurers came as quite a surprise to me. Going by the programmes an £800 camera damage claim would probably receive some scrutiny.
