Does anybody make slow colour film anymore? Neg or preferably reversal film.

I know Kodachrome 25 is long gone but I'm hoping that someone on here will have knowledge of some hidden gem of slow film stock I've never heard of of.
 
If you pick up some Ektar 25 or some Royal Gold 25, it's massively OOD so it should be shot at ISO 6 :thumbs:

Failing that, all you have really is Velvia 50 that will be in supply it seems.
 
The slowest you can get is Velvia 50, or colour negative Kodak 5203/7203 Vision3 50D motion film (although that uses the motion picture ECN-2 process which only a few places do, and usually with a minimum 1000') as far as I know, although if I remember Ilford/Harman did make some ridiculously slow ISO 1 or something colour transparency sheet film for archival copies of paintings etc until a couple of years (I can't find any trace of it now, or remember what it was called).

The definition of 'slow' is quite loose, but generally it means film with a speed of less than ISO 100. Generally the slower the film, the finer the grain.

Its low sensitivity film, iso 50 and below.

I have heard iso 100 film described as slow too, more often its medium speed because we're referring to days gone by before iso eleventy billion was available on digital cameras, iso 100 is comparatively slow these days......but we don't do iso eleventy billion in film land

It's not technically slow, but Fuji Pro 160NS can handle some serious overexposure. I shoot it anywhere between ISO 20-80 depending on the circumstances. It's only readily available in 120 and 4x5 though; you'll have to scour eBay for 135.

Stick an nd filter on and just use poundland vista ;)

I thought portra was pretty fine grained?
 
I thought 400 was pretty slow.

ISO 400 is like having night vision! :D

I can't think of anything other than velvia 50 for slide, Nick. As for neg, portra 160 (the newer stuff) I usually shoot at 100 as a matter of course, but could no doubt be shot a stop slower if desired.
 
Thanks for the replies folks, I suppose I was hoping somebody may have found a stash of uber slow 35mm cine picture film or something equally unusual or quirky, I suppose Velvia will have to do.

I have more Velvia 50 in stock than I need - it's nearly 10 years old (and fridge stored) and was fine a year and a half ago when last used. On accountof it's age it should probably be shot at ISO25.... PM me with an offer if you want some.

Be careful you don't fall foul of the mods, no dealing off thread, everything must be transparent and above board.
