Yes
I picked up one of these today for my Mamiya kit which has been rattling round in a Pro Trekker II for too long now.

I know a few people were saying in the thread about the 200 that it's not actually big enough for the number of bodies/lenses they have (or Lowepro say it will take). Well on first sight of the 300, I thought much the same thing. It's never going to take a 645 AFD with the leaf digi mag attached plus four other lenses and all the bloody batteries, bits and cables that our power dependant cameras need.

It did though... with room to spare and protected in the way you'd expect from the better Lowepro stuff.

I'll stick up some more impressions once I've got it laid out properly and carted it around a bit but so far I'm quite impressed and I'd certainly recommend taking a look if you like the idea of a satchel style bag for an SLR and 4/5 lenses.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them on the web from £70ish upwards but since I really wanted to see if and how all the gear sat in the bag and the guy at Jacobs in Bristol was really nice letting spend the time trying out different layouts, it seemed right to buy it there.

It was listed at £99 but he was also nice enough to take £10 off. Still £20 more I know but sometimes it's worth supporting the places you can still go and see stuff in the flesh.

Now I've just got to kick it up and down the road for a couple of hours and get rid of that new look.

Have been waiting for the 300 to arrive in stores, could you tell me how does it feel with all weight on one shoulder?

Thanks Mitch

how does it feel with all weight on one shoulder?

Hmmm, first thoughts are better than a shoulder bag, not as good as rucksack. The upside to a rucksack type is that you can swing the bag around on your shoulder and get quick access to the camera, without opening up the whole bag. Could make the difference between getting a shot and still taking off and opening a sack when it's all done and too late.

Looks like the strap system is different from the 100 and 200...Stronger too!

Dazz is it not uncomfortable/heavy for only one shoulder strap?

It also looks like the 300 does not have the diagonal strap like the 100 and 200. Is this right?

TBH I haven't really seen the 100 or 200 so I'm not sure if it's different. Pic 8 of 9 in groovyf's link shows the back of the 300 really well so that might answer your question.

It's certainly not too heavy for just the one strap but then Ive often had nearly 4 stone of gear in the trekker, with a tripod attached so it's still tiny to me. As for whether you'd find it comfy, I guess that's a personal thing. It's not to different to having a shoulder bag, although with it sitting like a rucksack it feels a bit odd right now with only the one strap.

A few days of use will tell I guess. If it works out well I could see me changing the Nova my EOS kit lives in for one too.

Dazz if I wasn't too lazy to take and post a pic of my 200 I'd do so but I had a good look at all nine pix and the 300 is definitely different in this aspect.

Have 1 of the computrekker + aw family and this holds just about all my stuff but when we go away for a weekend or light travelling in the week I simply toss the 350, a lens or 2 and a flash in the 200.

I had the 100 but this one is puny and will not really take a 350 with a grip or anything similar!

Cheers

From what I can see in the pictures it does look just the same as the 200 ... only everything is a lot bigger for the extra weight it can hold ...

The additional outer tabs for the Lowepro pouches are a real boon for things like phones/water/binoculars etc., too ... :D

A good buy there Daz ... I'm thinking I should trade my 200 as it is not big enough for my D200 with grip and longer zoom ... ... more dosh out the way ... :D

:p

Gotta get me one of these! Gotta sell a mint PhotoTrekker AWII to pay for it first though.
