Hi guys and girls.
I need your advice, I'm looking at getting my 1st tripod and I'm torn between the Slik Pro 330DX and Velbon Sherpa 600R.
I've narrowed it down to these two as their both below £100 (just moved so I'm skint) and the reviews are good for both of these.
I was hoping someone on here has used 1 of these and could advise me.

Thanks in advance

Im just awaiting the obligatory "Redsnapper" post...

For the money your looking at im sure Redsnapper could sell you a beauty with 10% forum discount... advert is at the bottom of the homepage

I have been looking over the last few days, and for the money only Red Snapper could give me a carbon fibre tripod and head for under £200 that didnt sacrifice build quality either.

For height I would go with

http://www.aldine.co.uk/redsnapper/tripod-283+RSH-12ballhead.html

And for stability I would go with

http://www.aldine.co.uk/redsnapper/tripod-284+RSH-12ballhead.html

With those deals you are also getting a £50 head (I got mine separately).

They will both work out at £106 delivered and give you a 10% discount on that price.

They also offer a three year guarantee over 2 years else where. And they are made in the same factory as a few other very well known makes as well ;)

As for your question, I would say its a matter of personal choice, look how small they fold down and try and read some on-line reviews.

From what I was reading Slik had a slightly better reviews, but like i say, compare each one you want to buy spec for spec.

I own this Slik tripod. I got it for £85 in a Park Cameras open day.

As far as quality goes its a super tripod and I love using it. So, whilst your looking at a different slik model, I can vouch for them in the outstanding product I have.

That is a very good tripod, but over his budget just a bit ;)

I appreciate that, I was merely vouching for the quality of Slik.

I've found a Slik Pro 700DX 2nd hand but in excellent condition for £69 complete with 4 way pan and tilt head. This may tempt me

I have had both tripods and much prefer the silk... better build quality in my opinion... velbons suffer from parts breaking or very dificult to unscrew problems... just gone off them completely and had two of their tripods over the years.

I have the SLIK Pro 700 DX pictured above.

Bought it a couple of years back and have been delighted with it.

I have a 600R and it's fine for what i use it for. Sturdy enough, and pretty adaptable too. I dont use a tripod enough to warrant getting anything better at the moment. I got mine from Camera King (via amazon) at the time. £50 ish
