No
I've created a slideshow using LR4 and the exported it to a movie which is MPEG-4, (I'm not sure there's any other option in LR), and burnt it to a DVD+R

I need to be able to get the DVD to play on a DVD player, should this work?

I just tried it on a quite old DVD player and said disc error.

Any help much appreciated :)

No. You need to create a DVD which is MPEG2 format and has a particular data structure. It's going to be pretty pants the as the highest resolution you will be able to play is 720 x 576 (and really the 576 is more like 288).

Hmm thanks, I may need to create another thread.

Basically I've been asked to put a slide show of images onto a DVD for play back on a "giant TV thingy" their words precisely. And thats all the info I've currently got, though I'm trying find out more.

you can do it with proshow gold

I'm windows so you really need someone with a Mac. There must be wedding togs on here that do their slideshows using Mac stuff?

I had to do a slide shown for a friend and used imovie to create the slide show with music, iDVD to create the DVD folders and chapter and finally used Nero to durn to dvd on another PC as my PC running OSX does not have a DVD Writer.

I have previously used Pinnacle Studio and Ulead VS 11, but the quality of the pictures using imovies was great.

There are a number of vid's on youtube as to how you can do it on the mac.

Most video editing programs do a 30 day fully functioning free trial and most (if not all) can be loaded with still images for a slide show. Just download one that works on your mac and give it a go.

There are HD formats that can be written to a standard DVD if there is a bluray player to play it back on.
