OK this is a little tongue in cheek.

I have to work overnight from 00:30 until at least 08:00.

I'm still at work now but will be leaving at around 13:30 and it'll take me 30-40mins to get home.

Do I......

A) Try and sleep as soon as I get in for as long as I can (realistically this will only be until around 17:00)
or
B) Wait until around 8PM (after teatime and putting my 2 year old daughter to bed) and sleep until around 23:00 when I'll have to get up & ready to go back to work.

I'm a monster when I get very little sleep

Just to add...... I've been awake since 5am this morning, at work since 7:30 and I'll be back in the office at 07:30 on Thursday.

This is a one off exercise, my "normal" hours are 08:00 - 16:00

Is it just one night?
Assuming it is, and with option two you mean 8pm, that would be my choice

You're correct.... 8PM (I've changed it now but acknowledging it was wrong so your post makes sense :p )

It probably won't matter which way round you do it, you'll probably still feel s***, either way.

I would go to bed when I got in at 2pm, sleep until 11 pm and eat some sandwiches on my way to work.
But I can sleep anywhere, anytime.:)

I like it but I have a 2 year old who's now had other ideas about this afternoon's sleep situation

I've had to do rubbish hours in the past. I usually set things so I'd wake up, get ready, eat something and head into work. I'd need 4 hours min so sleep from 7PM till 11PM (heavy carb meal helps with feeling sleepy).

But you're either asleep now or going to bed shortly so moot point.

I picked the 8pm option......

2 year old child woke up at 6am yesterday morning (2 hours before normal wake up time) so she was a frickin' delight by dinner tiem

Dozed off on the sofa for around an hour, then moved up to my bed and slept from around 21:30 - 23:10 so didn't do too bad although I'm feeling pretty knackered now.

Roll on 8am or thereabouts

So activities went better than planned..... the 6am checkpoint call was held at 05:10 and we're all done until just after 8am.

There's no point in going home now as I'll wake the wife/daughter up (life will not be worth living) plus said daughter is unlikely to let Daddy sleep if she's just woken up (add to that the missus will be getting herself ready to go to the hospital).

Plenty of cups of strong tea for the next hour or so
