How come you don't see the old slave unit anymore.

Is it because of todays flashguns?

I remember in the pre digital era, you could get slave units for next to nothing to fire the extra flashguns. Nowadays, we have to fork out for Wireless triggers and like.

Or am I missing something?

Technology has moved on a bit now. With wireless triggers being a better choice. The price of these have come down so much and being able to use them over a long distance and any lighting condition makes them better than the flash sensor. Saying that I use the yongnuo wireless triggers but recently had to buy a flash sensor to support the 25v trigger voltage of my metz CT1, it cost me half as much as a set of wireless triggers.

Must admit I was surprised it was so low when I tested it, expected 3 figures at least. That link confirms it anyway (20.89v). Interesting to see the CT4 is only 5v, I've been thinking about picking one of them up.

Horse, you can still get those little optical slaves that clip onto the hotshoe of a flashgun if that's what you're after - ideal for guns like the SB28 that don't have them built-in

That link shows metz 45ct1 at 600 volts. Dont confuse the cl1.

Thanks for heads up Kris, I should have mentioned I was talking about the '60' series, ie 60CT1 and 60CT4
