Slap the Cuffs On Him!

One of the comments on that page is so true. They'll stop parents taking photos of there own children, yet they'll happily run CCTV 24/7 there.

feel sorry for the family - a day out and an innocent photo ruined

not really if you are not allowed to take photos in the shopping centre then you should abide by their rules - its private property remember. calling him a p*** was a too far though

I agree; if it's against the rules then request him to stop taking the photo(s).

Insinuating he is a P****, then calling the police and telling them he's a P****, and the PC ordering him to delete a photo of someone that's quite obviously his own son is way, way too far.

I'm meeting a friend on Saturday and I will be bringing my camera along (like you do) and I plan to take some photos of him if he's happy to let me. If I get hassled, I swear to god I'm going to lose it!!

The PC needs educating then, he does not have the powers to do this.

That's destroying evidence (if the tog WAS doing anything wrong) which in its self is a crime!

I hope this made up rule is well signposted and that they don't tolerate any mobiles being used to snap pictures either.....
And I hope that for the safety of the public, it is well signposted that "Bridges Shopping Centre is a hotbed of paedophile assaults."

I asked a Dutch acquantance the other day what Dutch people think of the British, and he said they didn't dislike us, they thought of us as you do with a weird cousin (due to all the rules and red tape over here).

So, you would be happy for the police to be called for a transgression you might unwittingly make whilst on private property?

I am more amazed to see a security guard in the bridges! I lived in Sunderland for three years and never saw one in there, always at least 3 cleaners on the go though!

To be honest this is a very one sided story. The fact that a public disturbance is mentioned makes me think the dude taking the pics possibly didn't respond in the best way and that resulted in the visit from the rozzers. Who knows though.

nah they hate the English not the rest of us lol

If someone told me to stop taking pictures on private property I would be polite and put my camera away which would not involve the police being called.

He was obviously a troublemaker on the look out for an opportunity to have a run-in with the law and get his name splashed all over the internet.

Why else would he take his son to a shopping centre with him?

I think most people should know that taking photos on private property needs permission first and the security guard asking him not to take photos is fair enough.

The whole 'p***' thing would really make me mad however, I would be making a written complaint to the shopping centre, the local police force regarding the PC as well as the local rag informing them what had happened and the comments regarding the shopping centre being "a hotbed of paedophile assaults."

How do you know it wouldn't involve the police being called? What control have you over the actions of third parties? There are plenty examples of situations where the police have responded to calls by security staff despite there being no cause for their involvement.

generally speaking people do not call the police for no reason. doing as you are asked does not tend to give people the excuse to phone the fuzz. Maybe its just be but thats my opinion.

Mmm my car was vandalized last summer broken window trying to get the satnav but failed, police visited me three weeks later claiming overwork staff shortages etc. :suspect:

Some security geezer calls the police about a bloke taking a picture of his own kids and the police respond in double time.

Jeezus gawd and Bennet what is this country doing to itself.

We are doomed Mr Mainwaring doomed I tell yee.

the police and security would be on the same radio its called shopwatch the officer would of been alerted straight away and the dad would of been followed on cctv similar thing in my home town yesterday a tog in a shop taking pics of products was asked to leave police alerted but had another job so tog didnt get stopped.

One question that has to be asked. If the bloke was made to delete the images off of his phone by a pc when he got outside, where did the pics come from ?

Very good point! Data recovery software?

The article said the police ordered him to delete the pictures, it did not however say that the man complied with that order
