Hi everyone, just got the Jessops Skylight Filter 58mm today and was just wondering what was the main benifits to having one was, is it haze/glaze reduction?

Thanks

Tony

People just use them to protect the front element of a lens, personally i removed all mine as i think they affect iQ.

Ah right cool, i must admit i would have liked something that protected the front element

sorry, effect iQ? what does this mean`

In the context of Dogfish's reply, it's image Quality.

Given the choice, a Skylight filter wouldn't be my choice. UV would probably be more useful, but it's your camera and your decision.

Have a read of this for some more info.

Ta glitch

I like it though

Skylights have a slight pinkish tinge which made the sky slightly less colder on conventional film. If you've got a quality lens I'd not ruin it with a cheap jessops filter but have a decent B+W one or something similar imho

I'm going to get a B+W filter soon, I've got my lens on order so that should be here hopefully by the new year.

50mm hmmm yummy :)

All i want the filter to do is just help keep the front element clean for longer
