Yes
I'm thinking of having a go at skydiving. It's something i've always wanted to do, but never been able to afford it.

Thinking of maybe doing level 1 or level 2 of the AFF scheme.

Basically jumping out of a plane with my own 'chute, and having two instructors hold onto you as you freefall. Then you land yourself.

Something like what is offered here.

Anyone done it before? And was it worth it? Or is it worth saving my moneys and going for a tandem?

I've been tandem before and it was absolutely brilliant. I think I'd go tandem, there's less stress and worrying about stuff as the other person does the parachute release and landing... you just enjoy the buzz, without worrying about making sure you survive :p

Be carefull not to jump to a conclusion.

Skydiving is one of the few hobbies where the maxim "If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again" does NOT apply.

I've done a few parachute jumps. Loads of fun! I'm not sure about courses and things, I did a guided solo jump at first and I'm still alive!

Why would anyone jump out of a perfectly good plane

Sorry but someone was going to say it :D

it is NOT for me but enjoy what ever you decide to do

did a static line jump in 1989 and it was great
one thousand two thousand three thousand four thousand check canopy
phew
feels like your hardly moving until the last 20 feet and the groung comes rushing up at you

I have done a tandem before and can honestly say it was the best thing I've ever done. It might be worth maybe considering a tandem first - if you can raise a decent amount in sponsorship, some places will let you jump for free. I'd definitely say 'go for it' though - the adrenaline rush is out of this world!

Heard that one before, many many times, and always its the brillcreams from Crab Air saying it.

12 years experience, if anyone fancies a go, Im in.

Utrinque Paratus!

Did a tandem here too. The most amazing experience ever. Petrifying though :D Of course I am afraid of heights and had never been in a plane before!

Always said after that I'd like to go solo but as the middle age spread is spreading further I'm not sure I trust a piece of cloth and some string to hold me up any more.

it deoends on you - do a tandem if you only every *** to do one jump and want someone else to take resposibility for the jump. Do AFF 1 if you want to take control a bit and learn a little more and take responsibility for yourself.

Either way you'll love it and it depends on what you want to get out of the day - best talking to them and not us about it though
