I had Sky TV installed a couple of months ago and am pleased with it. Can watch Star Trek all day if you channel hop!

Only one problem with Sky is that every time it rains (not spitting!) we lose the satellite signal! It's getting frustrating.

Was watching Star Trek just now, it gets to the crucial bit where it looks like The Borg are about to meet their waterloo, and the Voyager might get home, and I lose the signal! :bonk:

I've got a Sky+ box.

Anyone else have the same problem?

Only in horrendous weather it gets a bit blocky occasionally.. but we are at the top of a hill in the middle of nowhere and it gets very windy up here.

We have swept snow off an old satelitte dish years ago and improved the picture no end!! :D

Northstreet has only got snow on his TV, don't think you can sweep it off the TV ;)

Mine's not been affected by any of the heavy rain we've ever had, or wind?

Haven't got any snow thanks! It's just bl**dy rain!

Yeah rain affect my dishes badly too but since it is usually accompanied by pretty murderous lightning here I have to pull all the plugs or it will fry the decoder (and anything else I leave plugged in). Does make good pictures though, I'll try to post some pics of the next one.

Mine has never been affected by rain or snow or wind. Only ever lost signal a few times in 6 years during storms.

You may have a poor signal

I used to have that problem when I lived up North. Everytime we had bad weather, the picture quality was cr*p. Now have cable so don't have that problem anymore :)

Yep, lose the signal when it is absolutely belting it down, engineer chappy said it would when he installed it, only happened once so far

The dish is either out of alignment or too small. Sky dishes are cheap crap, the clamps especially are made from cheap soft steel that buckles if it's overtightened (very common installation error) so it might have moved if you've had windy days or it might not have been aligned properly in the first place. I don't know how far north you are but again it's common to see small (30 & 40cm) dishes being installed too far north where the signal is weaker.
Another one to watch for is a dish installed in the winter looking 'through' a tree that has no leaves on it will lose the signal come spring when the leaves grow again.

I would contact sky and get them to send an engineer out to check the dish over, don't take no for an answer and don't let them charge you.

There's no reason why you should not have a good signal in everything but the heaviest rain/snow.

No problems here, other than briefly losing the signal last night. You can also watch Top Gear all day if you channel hop! :D Although my mate's missus has banned him from watching the repeats!!!! :gag::gag::gag::gag::gag::gag:
