OK we have sky+ with 250Gb sky+ HD box, but not upgraded to HD.

Hard drive appears to have failed somehow, in that it won't record or won't play back anything recorded....

All leads are in place....

Everything else seems to be fine....

any ideas? It is possible that small fingers may have pushed it around a bit - but looks intact and plays through it....

My options appear to be to ring sky and ask them nicely to replace the box if they wish to retain me as a customer! (as not overly fussed if we stay or not, if they call my bluff, though will miss some of the sports!)

At the risk of sounding like an old joke but have your tried turning it off and on again ;) give it about a minute off at the wall :D

Mine did exactly what your describing a week or so back...off and on worked a treat ;)

Matt -that will be tonights job.....

Simmotino - i have no idea what you are talking about!!! but shall google it.

worked. Many thanks! Once again, the awesomeness of the TP community, helps out in a small, simple but effective way!

http://www.gadsolutions.biz/electrical-services/sky--reset Also - having just renewed my sky they will do anything to keep you. I managed to get 75% off with sky wold and hd. I get all the sports, all the movies and everything else in HD for less than £20 a month.

Depends who you speak to, a few friends tried the old "I want to cancel" trick and they now do not have sky

P.s they normally don't replace faulty boxes for free unless you upgrade (signing into another 12 months).

I'm convinced the firmware in the sky boxes has a memory leak somewhere, leave them running long enough and they eventually become unresponsive to either the remote and the buttons on the unit and a power off reset is the only solution.

Been there done that. Expect calls every few weeks, eventually they will give you the price you want. A good tip is to mention that you have virgin in your area...
